electric water pump install?

i am curious on getting rid of the oem water pump and installing an electric one.
how do you go by installing this?
where can it be purchased?

It runs off the timing belt so removing it permenantly would be difficult. As asked before, why do you want to do this?

It runs off an accessory belt not the timing belt. Jay Racing makes the block off plate and front water outlet you would need to do this. I have only seen it done on race cars and some RWD set ups.

It definitely can be done, i did my car for the reason being its drag only. The setup is really quite simple you need a electric water pump, -16 or -20 hose for the coolant, a water pump block off plate with the water fittings and aluminum radiator with an fittings,also the water pump is not driven off the timing so that shouldnt be an issue. If you need pictures let me know i can show you how i did mine

I'm sorry, my mistake. I thought I saw the pump was run off the timing belt when watching all of Jafro's videos. Went back and watched again. I stand corrected.

Just an FYI, mechanically driven pumps are more reliable, especially in a daily driver setup. The only advantage to running an electric pump would be that it is no longer driven by the crankshaft.

You really won't gain a lot, a few hp at best.

All you really need to do is cut your lower hose and splice in a pump to do it the ultimate cheap way. Leave the water pump in just don't run a belt.

I wouldn't want the stock pumps impeller to impeed flow.

I had the Davies Craig pump that was linked earlier (I sold it due to needed money, wish I hadn't). It's the same pump as Tim Zimmer is running. EWPs have come along why in realiability, the Davies Craig is a very nice unit and has a controller to make sure everything runs right.
