Eibach prokit vs sportline

whats up everyone. i'm new to the forums and for some reason i can't post a thread in "handling tech." anyway, I'm about to order some new suspension parts and i would like your guys' feedback. i've searched all over and of course, there are no consistent numbers as to exactly how much the eibach prokit and eibach sportline springs lower a 2g fwd dsm.

i drive a 95 talon esi. i'll be installing koni sport shocks with the springs. i've read that the prokit springs will lower my car 1.0 to 1.5 inches, and that the sportline springs will lower it 1.6 to 1.8 inches. the only way to get advice i can trust is to ask those who have been there and done exactly what i'm about to do. (i'd like to be in the range of 1.5 to 1.75, i'm worried if i get the sportlines i may be too low, and if i get the prokits i may ot be low enough.)

so, can some of you guys please let me know what your results were using either of these eibach springs? thanks a bunch.

to be compoletely honest, i cant even tell half the time if a car is lowered with the pro springs, its very "unnoticeable". I would go with the sportlines, dont forget whenever you lower your dsm, that your camber will change and will need to be corrected.

Pro kit - better handling (depending on which shocks you get), doesn't look slammed to the ground.

Sportline kit - big drop, need camber kit, ride quality bad compared to the pro kit.

I've driven a 2G DSM with both kits that had adjustable tokicos in them, and the pro kit handled much better.

In addition to camber, your TOE will change too. After you get your springs installed get an alignment.

I had the sportlines with 18"s, and the back tires rubbed constantly. So I bought the prokit, if it brought it up a 1/4" I would be amazed. No difference whatsoever from my perspective.
Now im kicking myself for chucking the stock springs, I would have them back on in a heartbeat.

I know I'm in a 1G but I am VERY happy with my Pro-Kit springs. Great ride quality and handling and my wheel gap is tolerable. Plus I can actually go over speed bumps without scraping or bottoming the struts out.

Go with the Pro-Kit. A slammed suspension is nice now, but it gets tiring after a while when you gotta go slow down and angle your approach to and from a speed bump. While doing this, you STILL scrape your bumper and even some of your exhaust parts.

2" drop isnt for everyone, esp a daily driver.

When I put the prokit on my car I could barely notice is was dropped unless I parked it next to another dsm. Ive heard you dont need a camber kit with the prokit, is this true?

Are you set on eibach ? Take a look at the H&R OE sport spring. Make sure they have it for you application.

I have had both of these on my DSM, the sports were a much lower drop, the pros are much stiffer. It really depends on what you are going for performance handling or looks. Will you be doing much city driving?

wookieneck - do you mean you would be surprised if switching from the sports to the pros lifted the car back up a quarter inch? or would you be surprised if there was a quarter inch difference between stock springs and the pros? i'm not sure which you mean.

eclipsetrbo420A - i didn't really think about H&R until recently when i've been trying to find out more info on the Eibachs. they seem pretty nice, do you know how much they'll lower the ride height? between the two Eibach models?

greysave - i'm going for both. my wheel gap looks like i'm ready for offroading as it is now, so i definately want to lower it down some. get rid of the giant gap and have a more aggressive stance. but my main goal is to gain much better handling performance. it's quite possible i'll be getting into autocrossing this spring, but i'm not trying to put together a race setup or anything.

anyway, thanks again but i'm still getting some mixed advice. as far as i can tell the sportlines will give me close to a 2 inch drop, looks nice, but i'd rather avoid the clearance and camber issues. however, some say the prokit is perfect for what i'm looking for and others say it makes little difference. I'll most likely go with the prokit because i believe it will drop the car at least an inch, and increase performance with my konis, but i'm open to other springs if you all know of any around the same price range. H&R, tein s-tech?, what about tenzo and tanube or others? i know some stuff is quality and some is crap, but i could use any advice available to make a good decision here.

I mean between the prokit and sportlines.

I put on the sportlines, had it aligned. Decided it was too low, bought the prokit. Put on the prokit, couldnt tell a difference maybe a 1/4 inch higher in the back. Took it to get it aligned again and they said it was still within spec. I always thought it funny that the eibach's were rated to drop with a range indicated, well I got to be the guy with the prokit at the bottom of that range.

So im shopping for GC coilovers, but I might go back to stock springs in the meantime to try and save my tires.

I would deffinetly go with the pro kit as I have seen many with the sportline kit who like the looks but don't like it when there bumper is all messed up from hitting everything, but hey if you drive real cautiosly and slow and buy a camber kit, the sportlines would be good for a slammed out look.

cool. also, i saw on some site that koni sport shocks have three different levels on which you can set the spring perch, i think +/- 10mm. so i think i'll have about 3/4 of an inch to play with, so depending on how much difference the prokit actually makes i may be able to raise or lower the perch to have a better end result.

On my car with the Prokit I can barely fit my jack under the front and it barely clears most hoists, any lower and I would be SOL...
