I just put the gauge in about 100 miles ago and the needle has started to bounce wildly all over. Sometimes it gives a steady reading and sometimes it's flying around in circles and back and forth. Any ideas?

I can only think of 2 things:

A. Connection could be at an inbetween point. In the right connection, but not pushed all the way in.

B. I had a friend of mine push the probe too far in and it was touching the manifold itself. After about 200 miles or so it was doing the same thing your was. It would read good for the startup, but after it warmed up it jump all over.

If this is not the case, I am sorry. Only posting what I have seen in the past.

Good Luck.

You know, I was nervous about that very thing happening when I installed it. About it touching the other side of the manifold runner. I'll have to remove it and put some sort of spacer on the threaded part.

I know the GReddy EGT tap came designed to have the hole smaller then the tap itself. So that even the when you thread it through you will not touch anything. Even made it the right hieght so it doesn't touch the tip.

The guy I was refering to used a autometer one and it looked like it was putting the tip in farther than my GReddy. I never compared tips, so maybe they differ in length. I am not sure if there is a way to test the probe either. It will look funny even if it is still working properly. Exhaust gases will make its mark regardless if it is touching or not.

I'm using an autometer one as well. I'll probably put a washer or some other type of spacer to keep it up half an inch or so. I'm pretty sure it's touching, now that you said your friend had this same problem.

uh, ill post in both, but thanks anyway:thumb: :D is there a rule against directing people to a thread of a similar topic?

crap......would autometer replace it if its bad? since that would mean it went bad in 2 weeks.....

I'd sure like to think so! (but highly doubt it)

BTW, just busting your balls ;)
