Noticed this on ebay.

EGR Delete Kit Block Off Plate Mitsubishi Eclipse 1g DSM 1991 91 | eBay

I don't want to go down the soda pop can method which I swear I invented years ago.

Would it be sufficient to RTV the plate since I have verified it comes with no gasket?

I don't want to leave the EGR physically in place. I want to reduce as much weight as I can in the engine bay since everything counts.

Thanks

I appreciate your thoughts...if I can get a cheapie Felpro part number I'll go that route and throw it in my advanced auto cart.

i have the same block off plate and i just rtv'd it with a new gasket. im sure you can get away with it but thats all your choice.

Well thanks for saving me from scouring the internet for many hours. What about the 2 bolts though? I may have some laying around the toolbox but want to avoid the hardware store.

Might the stock EGR bolts do the trick? I am not with the car right now so I can't tell.

Thanks

Why not pick up one from here? It and a new gasket is less than the plate from eBay. I have used other products from them and fitment is always spot on.

Snowboder is right and you will get the plate plus the gasket for the same price or less compared to the Ebay.

I did mine (handmade) just because I didn't want to wait for the delivery time and I always have extra OEM Gaskets lain around in my garage though.

I even drill and tap the intake side to attach my BOV Feed Line.

Thanks...I do notice that this plate doesn't have the bolts though where the Ebay one does. I know it is only just a few bucks to go to Lowes but don't want to. Now if the bolts (or whatever sits on the stock EGR) fit then it is a no brainer with free shipping.

Thanks

Stock EGR bolts won't work as they'll be too long (think big EGR valve to go through vs. fairly skinny blockoff plate). You may be able to cut them to fit, but looking at ASA they're not threaded the whole way so you'd probably have to run a die over them to cut new threads. Or just find something you have lying around that's the same thread pitch.

Stock EGR bolt won't fit. Too long. A trip to the JY did it for me. The bolts that came with the JY EGR plate work great. Then I grabbed an OEM EGR gasket from a vendor. 0 leaks whatsoever.

Try hitting up stang murdera, aka miller imports. He has great prices and saves you the trip to the JY.

Yes, it will works, the plate shouldn't be thicker then the EGR, but it will be able to bolt it up nice.

Have you ever seen an EGR valve?

Notice how long the bolts are and how think the flange area is where they pass through.

Unless he was talking about putting the plate between EGR and intake. In that case stock bolts will work. But why do that when the block-off plate is plenty rigid to be put there by itself and seal well.

Thanks all. I have enough to get through this now. I'll just pull the EGR valve and see if I have some bolts laying around which I can't see not being the case.

Makes sense, but he obviously didn't read the first post where it was mentioned the EGR valve was going to be removed completely.

Well I found some bolts. My EGR valve didn't have a gasket when I took it of. I think that I am going to clean up the surfaces real good put some permatex the right stuff on one surface and then call it a day!

Thanks for saving me $5.

Went out to a yard and took a few from 1.8's since they have blockoff plates on these vehicles (federal ones didn't need the EGR valve, thus a blockoff plate was used in its place).

What I did was put back on the EGR valve to be behind the blockoff plate where I could still use the long bolts...and even kept the vacuum lines attached to the EGR
