Ok I here people on here all the time say that theyre quarter mile time would have been better if they could have gotten a better reaction time. I didnt think reaction time had anything to do with the acual quarter mile time. If 2 cars, that both run a flat 13, race and one has a better reaction time he will win. But they would both still run the same times, right? To my knowledge the clock doesnt start till your front tire rolls into that second beam. Like I say maybe im wrong and if I am then I want to know. So give me some feedback here.

You're correct. R/T has nothing to with ET. I've noticed people talking about their reaction time screwing up their ET, and have realized that people are stupid. :thumb:

LOL..ya leadkyfaucet ur right

i never did get that either. just follow the thread on FWD timeslips. people are saying that they would've ran faster if their R/T was better. my question is HOW? look at how stupid it is, if you sit still at the tree after turning green for 10 secs, and you finally run and post a 13 sec run. does that mean your car is a 3 sec car? R/T has nothing to do with ET, it has something to do with winning. traction problem... that's different!

Now I always thought it was once the light hits green ur time is running. No matter if ur movin or not. I dunno maybe I am wrong...........probly wrong. wouldnt be the first time

You are wrong. Definetly wrong.

If you are just doing a grudge match type thing, or whatever they call it around your parts, where you are just competing against the clock to better your time then NO reaction time DOES NOT effect your 1/4 time.

If you are doing bracket racing, drag racing where whoever passes the line first wins, then YES reaction time DOES count.

What they mean is that their quarter mile time would have been better if they could have gotten a better 60 foot time :talon:

Upon leaving the staging beams, each vehicle activates an elapsed-time clock, that clock doesnt start until you move forward, but the reaction time is given from the either 4 tenths of a second lights or 5 tenths depending on the race on the race tickets at least where my buddy's race at.

bracket racing is when you are racing against your posted time as well as the other car. reaction time here is still irrelevant to E.T.'s. what the original statement was if R/T is part of E.T. and the answer is NO it's not... regardless of what kinda of racing (bracket or heads up) R/T just gives you the advantage.

And some people are honestly stupid. :thumb:

those are the same people that haven't gone racing on a regulated track or maybe they did but just too stupid to understand the timeslip paper they get at the end of each run...
