Its a very good tuning option

With the Ceddy mods you'll have everything you need

I have managed to tune Suzuki, NISSAN and Mazda with Mitsubishi ECU + EcuFlash

Idling 1000cc injectors like stock and pushing 400whp

Best bang for the buck tuning option for DSMs

I was going to go with DSMlink (was about to spend $520 on the lite version, eprom ecu conversion included), but I found a 99 ECU for $40, and my boyfriend already had the tactrix cable because he tunes his Evo with the same program. Win :D

I really like it. I'm working with a tuner from Spec-Ops and he's doing a base tune on my car and showing me some things so I can do it myself later, but I really like it so far. Super easy to make changes and upload ROMs.

Right on Jaxness.

It disappoints me that every thread we have on any tuning solution other than Link always has posts/arguing on why Link is so much better. I respect the guys over there tremendously, might even call them friends, but there are other solutions available. It's good to have choices, a monopoly is never good in a market this specialized.

Once you purchase the ecu, and the cable, its going to very close to being just as expensive as DSMLink. Just a thought.

I disagree. Especially since he has a 97 and doesn't already have an eprom ECU.

$179 for Openport 2.0 cable

And any single one of these:

$100

$100

$125

$150

So, even if you bought the most expensive one I listed, also paid the $25 for EvoScan to use for datalogging and also got a brand new cable, you're looking at about $355, or at least $70 less than just the V3 Lite package minus the eprom ECU.

If you are smart and motivated to teach yourself, or have any tuning experience, ECUFlash is a great choice.

I'd admit that if I had a 98/99 ECU, I would be flashing as well. I really do like having ECMLink but as Zack mentioned, there are other options as well to suit everyones wants.

Both ECMLink and ECUFlash are great tuning solutions.

Like I've stated in all the other Ecuflash opinion threads, I like it more than Link. I use link in the 1g's and ecuflash in the 2g, 3g, and Evo. I learned how to tune on Flash though, so that is probably partially why.

You do have to "teach" yourself more so than, Link (at least v3), however, it's easy to learn and use. It's also cheaper, as stated above.

I run flash with telphera v7 on my evo and its grate. once you get how hex editing works it can be easy to start messing with.
I also run v3 link on my 1g and i like them both. I think link is more user friendly imo.

I guess I've never seen flashable ecus nearly as expensive as eprom ecus, much less being hundreds MORE.

link:545; eprom ecu: 200 = 745
flashable ecu: 100; op 2.0 cable w/ all connectors Mitsu & Subi: 200; evoscan: 25 = 325
Yeah, you were right, they're almost identical in price.

I like how when people compare link to anything else, they always compare the price of link ALONE vs the price of the ECU, cable, laptop, wideband, map sensor, fuel, oil change, tires, a hooker, and everything else imaginable; as if just buying link includes everything you need to tune and possibly even drive and upkeep your car. They also act like link automagically makes you a better, quicker tuner and will somehow give you more power and make your car more reliable.

Once you have the OP 2.0 cable, you can tune many different cars without buying anything else (if they already have a flashable ECU). With link you have to buy it for every car (and ONLY DSM's) -- not a good solution for those of us that have a bunch of cars, or for someone when they sell their car and get a different one.
