If your buying a 97 non turbo, and are looking for a correct PCM, you only need the one box....not a seperate for the transmission.

2nd, take a look at howell automotive they do sell they're Af/x ECU that lets you rap out the gears a little higher and makes the car a little faster for the 97 year model only, this is good if you plan on keeping this car non turbo, since it advanaces timing a lot.

Your other choice would be searching around here or ebay for the exact model year you are looking for. Either way its gonna cost ya. (don't even think about looking at the dealership price, its like a $700 unit.)

If you purchase a slushbox 2GNT, there is a TCU located under the dash behind the radio. I'm pretty sure it's bolted to the firewall, so it's a PITA to remove. Now, if you have a MTX, there shouldn't be one (mine's manual and my stereo's been stolen enough times that I'm pretty familiar with looking through that hole). So long as the ECU is from the same year as the chassis, you should be good to go. No two years are exactly the same with a 2GNT, so keep that in mind.

The dealer around here sells remanufactured ECUs for around $250... that's not a bad price in my opinion.

Consider yourself lucky paul, because they quoted my friend between 600-700 for a brand new one...thankfully he was only looking as an option to a problem he used to have.

Well, if anyone ever wants to use me as an intermediary, I'd be happy to get you a reman. ECU from the dealer near me. Just PayPal me the money, and send me your VIN number.
