ecu socket-NEED HELP!

does the plastic part of the socket have do anything? my buddy busted a corner off and one of the pins busted as well...so i need to know if i can just solder the pin that busted off back on or if it wont work ### the black plastic type stuff busted...


...also i triad another eprom eco thats not socketed today and as soon as i turned the key i had smoke coming out of the ecu???,what causes that?

Ohh, good :) Keeping the profile updated makes everything easier.

Smoke is what happens when something gets too hot (short) and melts/burns something. That ECU is probably destroyed.
