I have a 98 GSX and I live in New York. The car runs fine, but since NY just started doing OBD II testing for the yearly inspection I have to get the computer plugged in and checked out. The readiness test for the sensors (O2, O2 Heater, EGR, Catalyst, and Evap System) all read not ready. I have taken the car to a Mitsu dealer and they said they couldn't reset the ECU. I have read on the EPA's website that Mitsu's have trouble preforming the OBD II test with the monitors being difficult to set to complete in 96-01 models, which sucks. Anyone one have any ideas? I can use all the help I can get.

Pretty much the deal is the computer just doesn't like to run the readiness tests. To pass the inspection your computer has to run all the readiness tests just to make sure everything is in working order so they know you don't have a EGR block off plate or something like that. That is after doing the visual inspection. What ended up happening with me is I HAD to take my car to the dealer so they could play with the computer and "reset the readiness check the car was stuck on." That's probably the most bs thing I saw but they gave me my inspection sticker so I don't care. If you check around Eclipses are listed on a Federal shett of cars that the "readiness monitors are difficult to set to complete" because there a very specific criteria that must be in place before the computer will even think of running the readiness checks. Check this
thread out.
It really blows. I would go raise a huge stink if I were you.
