ostrich..has any one ever heard of doing that to your ecu i was told to get a eprom ecu so the shop could turn it into a ostrich. i heard it was a new thing out that was really good???

moates.net has been selling the ostrich for awhile. It is an eprom emulator that allows you to tune the ecu code in realtime instead of having to flash multiple chips. The ostrich plugs into the eprom chip slot on the ecu, then you can modify the code via usb cable and laptop. It still requires knowledge of the dsm ecu code or another vendors software.

Correct, the Ostrich is a EPROM emulator. It just allows you to read and write to battery backed RAM from your PC over USB and have it look like a EPROM to your ECU. I've got two of them I've been using for years. I've also used them with other devices that use standard 27XXX series EPROMS.

TunerPro is software that works with the Ostrich to edit the software and upload the bits to the Ostrich.
DSMap uses an Ostrich so they can modify parts of the software on the fly somewhat like DSMLink does with their hardware.

should i get it, or is DSMlink better and where can i get it i cant find anything on it

Lets see.
If you can't click on the link already provided you might have problems using an Ostrich, it's very much a DIY type of tool. DSMLink on the other hand is a complete easy to use solution with a forum full of people to support you.

Can't really compare one to the other. You'll have to decide based on what you think your abilities are and how much of the low level details you want to learn.

I'm currently using Ostrich and I personally enjoy my choice. It has a steeper learning curve, a bit rough around the edges with support, but it can certainly get the job done. DSMlink has more support, easier to pick up on, but the price far exceeds what I wanted to spend so I started doing some searching and finally invested in socketing my Eprom and installing Ostrich. I've not once regretted doing it and I've had fun learning all of the different things that can be done through that setup.

Reall it's all up to what your budget allows for and how patient you are as Ostrich will require a bit more patience.

yah my bad..... i didnt see the link at first, but ya thanks and it is going to b fun

You will still need an EPROM ECU. I have one if you're interested. Other than that, here are a few links to the remaining DSMap parts you'll need for speed density. For the speed density harness, simply buy the bundle for ECM Link. And get yourself a nice WBO2 and you're all set.

1. Speed Density Harness: $40: FULL THROTTLE SPEED -

2. Ostrich 2.0: $175: Ostrich 2.0 : The New Breed [OSTRICH_2] - $175.00 : Moates.Net

3. 1st Gen - ALDL/USB Logging Cable: $35: 1st Gen - ALDL/USB Logging Cable | DSMAP

o thanks that would b great i need a eprom ecu and thanks 4 all the links that was what i was looking 4

I have never used Ostrich but from what I read its good for tunning and all. I have personally been using ECMLink v3 and it was pretty simple I got installed it and got it up and running in minutes and the tunning is simple as well.

I have to admit though that 500 for the v3 was not cheap but I only got it cause I paid 160 for the v3 and an eprom ecu

by the way I have an eprom ecu if your still looking for one. ( I have like 3 extra) 1 90 and 2 91-94 style

OP
How many times do you need to ask the same questions? this is at least the 3-4 time I've see you post asking the same type of quetion... .

People only can tell you the same things so many times then they won't be willing to help anymore... .
