ecu how to get to for wiring safc

Ok everyone, I tried searching and found that the ecu is behind the radio, but how the heck do I access it well enough to wire my safc? I pulled off the passenger kick panel, but there is a big metal bar in the way now. And even with that removed, the ecu looks to be tucked in there pretty deep. Any tips on how to get to it and the pinouts so I can solder in everything? Thanks.

Edit-Found some info and gonna try and see if it works, if so I'll post up for anybody else needing help.

Undo the drivers side panel, you will se all the wires hooking into the ecu. Undo the 4 ecu wire clusters so you can access taping into the wires, i made the mistake of not unhooking it and it was a bi***.

I bought a used safc and have no clue how to hook it up, is there a tech article for doing it or can someone draw a diagram or something? i am sick of this thing just lying around!

To get to it, go to your driver side floor, put your left ear on the floor and look right, remove that big panel and you will see all the wires going to the ecu, then just do what i said above and use the link.

On my 1g, I actually unbolted the ecu and wired it that way, with it sitting outside the console on the passenger side floor...Its been there for like 8 months now, I never felt like throwing it back in, especially with the ease of wiring, swapping ecu's, etc....

When I threw in the eprom and had work done to it and help friends test ecu's and whatnot, it was nice to have it right there with easy access

Is this going to work for my SAFC since the directions are for a SAFC II and does anyone else have any other directions I could use? diagram is a little sketchy, I like to know exactly what I am doing before I go ahead and do it, especially with the ECU.

If you really want it to be easy you can use a wire harness extender...

Just skip the last step where they tell you to tap the knock wire. There used to be a second page to that article where they told you to disregard that step, but it seems to have disappeared.
