Ok QUICK QUESTION before I buy the wrong ecu....

I have an 1995 GST coupe automatic......the ECU is fried

I looked for a ECU exact year all over the Junk yards...finelly found one from a 1997 Eclipse GST Coupe....md335287

Am I able to use the 97' ECU on my 95' without a problem?.....

I know both plug n play but will it read it right?

So since the 97 doesn't have the CAS it would not run the 4g63T in my 95??

What I mean is would it cause engine prblems if I use it anyways? Like bad idle, acceleration e.t.c

and if it comes from a 5 Spd would that cause bigger problems I know the TCU magnages the transmission so it wouldn't matter what ecu your running right?

you should be able to make it work but you cant just plug it in... the 96-97 cars have separate cam and crank sensors that are at the front of the engine, your 95 has a CAS that basically incorporates both of those signals into one unit at the rear of the head so it isn't plug and play. you will need to make some adjustments, because of the difference in the sensors one of them reads back wards and really screws with the timing and injectors. an ECU from a 98-99 car would be a more PNP solution. also there is wire that goes in between the TCU and ECU, (torque reduction request) i don't believe that the manual ECU are programed to use this and will more than likely cause some drivability issues. not so much with the engine but with the transmission. if you were trying to use an auto trans ECU in a manual car it wouldn't be a problem but... you would be better trying to find an ECU from an auto car...

Too late guys since I posted in the tilte respond fast!!

I bought it already... An hour after I posted this thread actually....

So then I'm screwed huh???

Oh and b4 y'all say I should of searched and done research.... I searched and did my research...ssoooo what got me to buy it thinking it will work.

I read that all you had to do is switch up the coil wires around and the injector pins as well for the mean while untill you get the right ECU or Dsmlink to swith to inverted ?

Also I read that swithing Auto ecu to a manual ecu wouldn't be a Problem since auto has the TCU....

Some one better set me straight and tell me how exactly am I going to able to make this work??

Any ways I can make it run on the 97 ECU in my 95 for the moment while mean while I buy or repair my old ecu??,

the problem wont be getting the engine running, it will be with the trans. making it work is kind of hit or miss it seems.... yes all you should have to do is swap the plug wires and work from there, it should start and run with just that, how well is the question. some people have been able to get their cars to run pretty good just by doing that. if it starts and runs but has a bad hesitation or miss as you accelerate then you need to start swapping injector wires. but... the TCU does talk to the ECU, i am not sure if it is for during up shifts, down shifts, decel, or all of the above but the TCU does ask the ECU to quit making power for a reason and if the manual ECU doesn't listen to the request from the TCU there is a possibility you could tear up something in the transmission. i wouldn't run it that way for long...

Well said bro, ok well if its a hit I'll run it like that mean while I'll send my 95 ECU to get it repaired....

Thank you or taking your time bro and helping me out it seems dead at times when no one replies...

Since you're new I'll cut you some slack, but to demand and EXPECT an expedient reply on a free message board is completely inappropriate. No one has to reply at all it's our choice to try and help. Just want to make sure you know how to interact with us on this forum more effectively so you can lead a long and productive relationship with this community.

Wow who in the #### are you? I never demanded anything I expected a fast response since I notice dsmtuners is pretty much a famous forums.....I'm new but not new to a community board, I'm a moderator on a Honda forum... This eclipse is just a new fresh start on a different car. You act like the owner of the site trying to put a new member back in line?....if I wanted any response by any body I would ask, but I simply asked For a quick reply or I'll put myself in deep hit by purchasing a false part. Your right no one had to reply to my thred, I putting a gun to anyones head or a virus threat?
???

I did mention that it seems dead at times, due to the fact that no one seems to he online? Was that wrong to mention to a proven member?

Cut me some slack???

Cut yourself a piece of time and think about what you just replied to...

Ok so you read "Moderator on a Honda forum" and think you got a point? It's funny how a few Honda owners (including me) respect others especially DSM owners(most likely the eclipse) but everyone seems to use Honda as a epic failure... When most Honda owners Try to look the part.. And there's those that actually play the part just like you love your DSM I love mine...Honda is just a bonus.....

Calm down bro, I was simply kidding. Didn't mean to insult you.

No it's my fault I'm taking this too serious. But this ECU problem really got to me to the point I was about to give up till I sat in her and felt the steering wheel and fell in love with it all over again hahaha
