First off this will not be a "can or should I put a 2g ecu in a 1g" that research has already been done.
My question pertains primarily to the 2g flash able (98/99) ecu but am also interested if a 3g ecu will work.
Can I use a non turbo ecu, or an ecu from a 420a equipped mitsubishi, then simply flash a stock evo8 tune or a stock 2g turbo tune to it as a starting point? I realize the tune would be off due to the fact that the evolution 4g63 has different components such as injectors and turbo.
I'm wanting to mainly log data at the moment, but would like to be able to flash for beter performance or mileage in the near future.
Current mods to 1g tsi:
Removed boost solenoid restrictor
Removed emissions
Will soon be switching to either GM maf or 2g maf
Have 2g maf and will soon have a maft for GM maf
My reasoning for wanting a 2g ecu is simple, I can tune and log cheaper than spending the high price for link(cost of ecu at local jy $25). Yes link may be easier and preferred over ecuflash, but my current and near future mods are not extensive enough to really warrant dropping the money on link at the moment. Maybe in the future but not now
Sorry for the long post, just didn't want to leave anything out
