First night driving the car, somehow the spark plug boot to the number three cylinder came off. CEL came on, all that good stuff. Put boot back on, erase code, all fine and dandy.
Driving it a few days after that, CEL comes on again, but it is running fine, no problems at all. Get home, check code, "Manufacturer cntrl. Fuel/Air metering." I would say that I had a boost leak, but I did a quick try for boost, just like normal. Erased code, keeping it in the back of my mind (I have been driving an Intrepid for over a year with bad A/F).
While driving the next day, CEL comes on on start up. Idles fine, try to launch, everything is good. Drive it carefully home, check code. "Random/Multiple misfire." Electrical, doesn't effect how the car drives (for now), erase it, check it out later.
Well, Friday (30th), "Random/Multiple misfire" comes up again, but I needed it to drive a good distance for me later in the day, so I took it for a quick spin. Everything was fine. Without erasing the misfire code, check it again. This time, only the 3rd Cylinder is misfiring, but it still drove like normal.
One thing I was wondering is if cruising revs made a difference. My dad told me to keep it at about 2k, but I usually keep it below (35mph in 4th gear, while he said to leave it in third). Could that cause this at all?
Any ideas? Drives fine, shifts fine, spools up fine, everything is good, except the ECU is complaining about problems that don't seem to exist.
