I didn't see this in the forums so I thought I would ask. I was eyeballing the DSMLink and was curious. I have a 95 Talon that was manufactured in July of 1994. I'm fairly sure it has the EEPROM ECU although I haven't visually verified it. My question is this. What have you guys done when sending your ECU in to have it socketed? Let the car sit until it comes back? I have a truck I can drive but hate the gas mileage that pig gets. Thanks for the input.

Pretty much or find a local that can socket it for you. Also I would pull the ECU and verify that it is indeed a Eprom. I got my eprom due to an aquantance selling his 95 with a SAFC in it, I asked if I could switch ECUs and he said yes (not like he was going to use DSMlink). I have also seen people take a 95 on a test drive and swap out a 96 ECU (from a pick and pull for $20) while on the testdrive. Shady but its done.

Personally I would drive the "pig" around and let Dave at DSMLink socket the ECU for you. He deals with these ECUs on a daily basis and knows exactly what he's looking at. Their turn around is extremely fast.

Your call.

And yes, confirm that it's indeed an EPROM ECU, as stated, shadier things have been done to cars on test drives other than swapping an ECU. How about the story from Carrol Shelby about when Hertz used to lease the 350GT and people would rent the car and take it home and swap their crap V8 for the Shelby V8 then return it to Hertz.

Thanks for the info. I'll try and check it out fairly soon although I'm not sure when I'll be getting the DSMLink.
