Earlier today while setting my timing, I was keeping an eye on my engine temp, and according to my gauge it started to overheat, just shy of going into red, mind you I wasn't leaking coolant, and have never had overheating issues, other than leaks, which have all been fixed.
That being said, I immediately checked what the ECT sensor was reading(using torquePRO app for android if that makes any difference). And it said that the temperature was around 140 or 160 or so. Also my temp gauge has always seemed to be accurate, its normally in the middle while up to temp, cold on cold starts, and has gone into the hot area at times of legitimate overheating.
Anyone run into anything like this before? I shut the car off for fear of not knowing which sensor to test, I will also note, that I recently put a pair of slimline fans in, only have the driver side wired atm(ie. pass isn't wired in yet) but jumping the relay runs it, so I would think thats working ok and would have come on if I was actually overheating. Unless my fan control is messed up between the relay and ECM.
