I bought a 98 GSX at the beginning of this year off the marketplace and have been fighting with it ever since. The guy I bought it from had rebuilt the whole car.

When I bought it from him he flat out told me it won’t go over 4000 RPMs, it hits the rev limiter and the whole car shakes. But he said he just never had enough seat time to tune it properly. It runs great but in every gear at 4000 it feels like it’s stuck in launch control.

I’ve read at least 100 forums and tried diagnosing all suggested problems from fuel cut, to wires, to boost leak, to speed sensors (mine didn't work) I was even told the ECU was too old in the car and needed a standalone, that it was getting too much fuel and not enough air.

Finally I bought the ECMLink v3 cable (car already had the ECU and chip in it) and started tinkering. I will say I did make some progress. The car will go up to 5000-5500 RPMs but as soon as it hits boost basically it locks up again. Or if I WOT it will do it again at 4000 RPMs.

Please. Any advice is helpful and I just want to get this beast out to the shows where she belongs! Thanks in advance!!

Did you fix the VSS?
A log would be great but even one for you just starting the car right now would help so we can see the settings. Please also post a profile of what's in the car so we can see it that matches the settings.
No havent fixed the vss someone has made mention it might be the problem.
