Does anyone have an ebay intake and if you do how well does it hold up and is it just as good as a dejon or an injen? I know piping is just piping, but I'm just wondering because it saves alot on money.

I got lucky and scored a near perfect condition Injen out of a junkyard(!!) for 50 bucks. The thing that I noticed about most of the ebay intakes is that they are much shorter and tend to suck up more hot engine bay air instead of the cooler air near the fender walls. The Injen was perfectly snug where it should be.

I doubt this is true. I used to have an Injen intake on my other 2g dsm. The filter was so close to the fender because of the ebay adapter I purchased later on (which comes with these bomz intake kits). It has nothing to do with the pipe itself. The ebay intakes are probably the exact same size as the injen intakes.

Also, forgot to mention. I had to run to the hardware store to get nuts and bolts to bolt up my MAF adapter. My kit never came with any hardware, so there was no way for me to bolt up the MAF adapter without 4 nuts bolts and the appropriate washers.
I just reused the 4 bolts that held down the stock airbox to the fender, they even had washers but may have been added by the previous owner... but it worked. The BOMZ is lacking in hardware and hoses, but other than that its all good IMO. :thumb:

i don't think i got bolts with my ExtremePSI intake kit. if i did, i probably would have put them on. nope, now i have zip ties holding the filter adaptor to the MAS

If you are talking about the "Bomz" style, here's what I can tell you:

Filter and intake pipe are great (Although the intake could use some grinding/smoothing inside the recirculation pipe). The couplers and clamps on the other hand are terrible! They couplers have to be stretched EXTREMELY hard just to fit over the intake tube (Which is not easy to do because it is HARD rubber, you'll need screwdrivers and lots of force). Once you get the couplers on, you'll find that the clamps they provide are all the same size, so the clamp for the MAF is way too small. You'll need to use a bigger one (I took one off my old intake). Also, the MAF adaptor will only work with your stock MAF sensor if you remove the plastic piece that goes over the honeycombs. Now, once you have it all bolted up into your car, you'll find that the filter is a bit big and the intake rubs on the inner well of your fender. I left it like that, as I didn't really find it to be a big deal. Now, about the hoses. One of the three hoses fits good, while the other 2 are too big for the nipples they belong on. You have two options, use zipties (Which won't work THAT good because the hoses are hard rubber) or just use your stock ones.

Once you finally overcome the woes of this intake and put it on, it does make a noticeable sound increase, and improves throttle response.

The second time around, I would have just gone with an Injen, Dejon, or even Extreme PSI intake and saved myself from the headache of getting those damn couplers on. LOL

I agree with pretty much this whole statement plus have a little more to say.

I thought the couplers and clamps sucked so bad I purchased new silicone couplers and clamps that actually fit. The filter seemed fine for a cheapy, but I opted for a K&N FIPK. With the fit of the "pipe" it ended up jamming the filter up against the inside fender well.

But as we all know..."you get what you pay for", and for $30 to the door plus $20 for clamps and couplers, it's still cheaper than the "real deal".

Even with my current knowledge about it I would buy one again and put the extra money elsewhere.
