Does anyone have an ebay intake and if you do how well does it hold up and is it just as good as a dejon or an injen? I know piping is just piping, but I'm just wondering because it saves alot on money.

Like you said, its just piping. But I wouldnt run one of those knock off filters. Buy a K&N or something similar. I know some guys running ebay intakes with no problems.

If you are talking about the "Bomz" style, here's what I can tell you:

Filter and intake pipe are great (Although the intake could use some grinding/smoothing inside the recirculation pipe). The couplers and clamps on the other hand are terrible! They couplers have to be stretched EXTREMELY hard just to fit over the intake tube (Which is not easy to do because it is HARD rubber, you'll need screwdrivers and lots of force). Once you get the couplers on, you'll find that the clamps they provide are all the same size, so the clamp for the MAF is way too small. You'll need to use a bigger one (I took one off my old intake). Also, the MAF adaptor will only work with your stock MAF sensor if you remove the plastic piece that goes over the honeycombs. Now, once you have it all bolted up into your car, you'll find that the filter is a bit big and the intake rubs on the inner well of your fender. I left it like that, as I didn't really find it to be a big deal. Now, about the hoses. One of the three hoses fits good, while the other 2 are too big for the nipples they belong on. You have two options, use zipties (Which won't work THAT good because the hoses are hard rubber) or just use your stock ones.

Once you finally overcome the woes of this intake and put it on, it does make a noticeable sound increase, and improves throttle response.

The second time around, I would have just gone with an Injen, Dejon, or even Extreme PSI intake and saved myself from the headache of getting those damn couplers on. LOL

I noticed no difference in sound or performance going from an FIPK style intake to the FIPK style intake plus the metal intake pipe. I had the ExtremePSI one, which looked to be the same as the Bomz intake, but with better couplers and silicone hose.

yeah i had the same problem with one of the couplers... the bigger one that joins the MAF to the pipe... took like 2 hours to get that thing on... there were sooooo many times i thought i had it, then BAM it flies off...

then the coupler that goes fromt he pipe to the turbo was too big! (and still is) so im using 2 clamps, and have it on all the way to the back of the turbo intake part (dont know right word)

Oh and I also got a too small of a clamp for the maf, so i used my old one as well.

Im also running the filter it came with, no problems so far... i will switch to a K&N as soon as this one is dirty though (rather than cleaning it)

My difference in noise was from going from a stock intake box to a hard intake and open element filter. I said nothing about going from a FIPK to a FIPK plus a hard intake pipe.

And VPrime, those are the same problems I had. To make your fit tighter on the turbo, reuse the stock rubber sleeve that was originally on the turbo when you pulled your old intake off. That will tighten things up abit. The good thing about the bigger coupling on the turbo side, is that it allows you to upgrade to larger turbos without needing a new coupler.

Also, forgot to mention. I had to run to the hardware store to get nuts and bolts to bolt up my MAF adapter. My kit never came with any hardware, so there was no way for me to bolt up the MAF adapter without 4 nuts bolts and the appropriate washers.

Basically anything that fits through the hole and tightens down will work.

I believe I used a M8 screw (Metric 8mm) but I don't remember the exact length. Also, I got them in stainless, I guess just for that exta "bling" appeal (But really, who looks at your MAF adapter bolts? LOL)

I'm also looking into one of these since I currently just have a partial hard intake pipe 50% rubber pipe 50% hard pipe. But there's one thing that I want to know. What's the size of the intake hole where it connects to the turbo? Is it smaller, bigger, or the exact same size as the Injen and other aftermarket intakes? I don't want the hole to be too small since I want to get as much air to the turbo as possible.

It's bigger than the stock T-25 and also the Injen intake. I believe the Bomz and ExtremePSI intakes are the exact same things, except the ExtremePSI kit comes with real silicone houses and couplers, and also all hardware and correctly sized clamps.

Hope that helps. :thumb:

i had teh rubber sleeve from the stock pipe in.. but i found it to be in the way. had a "step" of a cm.
So i just have it off... it seems like it is tight enough ;)

for nuts and bolts i just got some random ones off a bunkbed heh... worked perfect.

I dont know what ebay kit I got but mine has absolutely no problems like any of you said. IT fit on perfectly, the couplers were good and I Got all the clamps with it the right size. One thing that is true, the intake filter rubs a little bit on the inner fender but if you push it down, it stays under the fender and no more problems.

Was a relaly nice setup, although im trying to sell it now because I just upgraded to a GM MAFT, too bad they dont have premade ones other than the 150 dollar dejon tool ones...

Ya I am looking at doing the same thing but found this vendor ( http://search.stores.ebay.com/Chrom...fsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftsZ2QQsaselZ13797966QQsofpZ0 ) which gives you two choices of filter either their brand or a K&N one. My only worry is that the K&N one they provide may not be the right size or something so thought about just running their brand a week or so and then getting my own K&N but you may check into this company.

The bomz intake pipes are good. I had a injen pipe with no recirculation hole that I traded to a friend that had a bomz with recirculation hole. They seemed to be about the same size. Turbo spool sounds exactly the same. Dont know about the filters though , I use K&N. So I would say save some money and go for the bomz!

I have the ExtremePSI intake on the 14b and still use the stock sleeve to make a tight fit around the turbo inlet. I bought it years ago on ebay before I knew ExtremePSI actually had on online store. I just figured, "It's half the price of the Injen and looks just as shiny." And that reminds me that I need to take it off and clean it one of these days... :)

I have nothing bad to say about it, except they sent the wrong color couplers. That was years ago, though, and I'm sure the way they do their orders has changed since then.

I was also thinking about getting that same intake but I found a better deal at a local vendor. I'm gonna go check it out today. The brand is KYO and they are having an inventory sale so I only have to pay $39 for the intake pipe and filter. What do you guys think? Here a link to their website
http://www.kyousa.com/kapowerintake.html
They didn't list the intake for a gst/gsx but I contacted them and they said they do have the intake for a turbo eclipse.

I would be interested in that too if I could see some pictures or something or I may just try to contact them soon too.

I went by today and they were sold out:notgood: So if you want to still get one you would probably have to pay regular price and order online. The reason why it was so cheap was because they are getting a shipment of new intakes next month and they were clearing out their old inventory. Well let me know if you find something else and i'll do the same. If not i'll probably go the the ebay intake.

i bought one of those ebay intakes, the welds suck, where you bolt it to the car so the intake wont just fall down that broke on me within 6 months those are shitty pipes, mine was like the thickness of a soda can i could literally crush it with my hand

What brand was it, what vendor did you buy it from?

I got lucky and scored a near perfect condition Injen out of a junkyard(!!) for 50 bucks. The thing that I noticed about most of the ebay intakes is that they are much shorter and tend to suck up more hot engine bay air instead of the cooler air near the fender walls. The Injen was perfectly snug where it should be.
