ebay bse kit

Hey guys, have any of you used an ebay BSE kit? My friend who I bought my short block from built it using one of these kits, and I did not realize these can be problematic until after I installed the engine! Any imput on people that have used these in there 6 bolt engines would be great!

Priming isn't 100 percent necessary. That is why we use assembly lube. It is just an extra precaution to ensure that there is oil to the bearings on startup.

I went with a "professional" too. Took him 2 times to get it right. Cost me a fortune and over 2 months in down time.
And the spun bearing from not priming? Thats weird. That tells me it was from something else. Ive had fresh rebuilds in the past that i havent primed and they built pressure up real quick and lasted forever. Though to be cautious, i primed my 4g63 before firing it, these things are way too finicky to #### with

Yup he didn't prime it and spun a bearing :/. And his stub shaft is an oem one... thats the only thing he did right on the engine.

I could have swore the how to article I read said that it wasn't 100% because it would just flow through the hole like it was oiling the balance shaft. Actually i replaced the oil pump bearing, and blocked off the outer on the left balance shaft.

Not trying to give false info or sound smart. Its just what I have read.

You either read the article wrong, or read an article wrote by someone who should not be writing tech articles. It is in no way acceptable to leave the oil hole open when doing a balance shaft elimination. With the shaft in place there is a tight clearance and it blocks the oil from just spraying out. Without the s. haft the oil will take the path of the least resistance and starve you bottom end of oil pressure

100% correct, my friends car spun a rod bearing, and cooked all the crank bearings, because he lined up the holes. (different friend than the guy who had bad luck 3 times this month)
