Easy way to compress turbo to turbine housing

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Try a c clamp with 2 pieces of wood on each side or just get it pressed on at a shop man for like 10 bucks

Something is definitely wrong if you can't put the CHRA in the turbine housing. If it doesn't drop in easily, something is preventing it. Any chance you can provide some pics so we can see what you are doing?

it needs alil compression it will not just drop in can u just pull it out no i don't think so.

Mine went off and on easily, no problem at all. No commpression is normally needed, what keeps it on so it wont come right off is the ring that holds the turbine housing on.

Lose the attitude till you have the correct information!

Its rare for it 2 just pop off and on it won't especially on an old housing that has some miles on it so attitude can stay thank u

Mine came right off and pushed right back on, its a 14b with many miles on it, take it how you like...

ok then your the exception then because i have done many and the only ones that come straight off are the new 1's.I have seen them come off from older turbo's but like I said its doesn't happen very often. It could just be that I get all the pain in the ass 1's 2 something 2 think about.

Try a wire brush or a little emery cloth where the flanges mate. They may be galled or rusted. Clean em up a bit and it should assemble like a new one.

The turbo only has 300 miles on it and it has been apart for a while, I might have goten some ceramic coating in the ring. But, when it was brand new it I had to pry it apart. I was just wondering if anyone had an easyier way to compress it? I will see if I can sand away any coating around the sealing ring and then try to use a c-clamp.
Thanks

save alot of time bring it 2 a shop press on and bam done for 10 bucks it with the pain in the ass its gonna be

Oh ya your a real smart 1 yourself dippy this post is a month old and you sir are the dip sh#$. Have a nice day im done with this post.

Mine required a little bit of prying and wiggling to get apart (not to mention a few taps with a plastic hammer) but when I had it apart I cleaned where the exhaust housing fits on the bearing housing with a wire brush. Now it slips on and off easily. You should not need to have it pressed together, if it wont go together then something is wrong.

i was meaning for it 2 be pressed off not on i should of made myself more clear but ur right it should go on easily because that clamp is what holds the turbo to the turbo housing.

A bit O' punctuation never hurts. I have to concentrate just to read some of these post. Maybe people could understand you a little better if you used some of these guys: ,.:;'"

mine needed to be tapped with a hammer a few times to get it apart but after that it was no problem. Maybe it's not lined up? Clean both pieces really well and try again. Just wiggle it and once it starts going on it should be fine.
