EastCoast Road trip @ Tail of the Dragon

Tail of the dragon - Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC
I am staying at Fontana Village where I have stayed the last 4 years I have gone .

This Thread is advance Notice to when it will be so we may set the Itin later after some feedback .

The way I figure it will go for right now is arive friday afternoon / night ,
Ride the dragon and the skyway on saturday and saturday night ( for those who are crazy enough ),

and head back home sunday evening .
I will do alot of reserch as far as mapping , food , fun stuff to do as I get some free time !

^^ That's not too bad. It is a road trip. Think Cannonball Run or the Gumball Rally.

I'll be there.

Also, don't forget we can always go over to Lake Fontana and Fontana Dam on Sunday. If anyone wanted to come earlier or stay later, Gatlinburg and Pigion Forge, TN and Cherokee, NC are close by.

So what exactly is "Tail Of The Dragon"? I clicked the link but couldn't get too much info. Is it a 1/4th mile, or autocross track?

I'm all the way in S-florida so I dunno.

I heard about this over the summer from a guy who rode it on his bike in June. It looks like A LOT of fun!!! I would love to hit this up with everyone, but that's just too far of a trek.

Yeah it is very fun but like stated before watch out for cops.
They have hideouts.

^^ That depends on when you go. Last time I was there, there were no cops on the Dragon. They have undercovers also, but I didn't see any of them either. I think the time of year we plan on going will be good because it's kind of pre-season.

I would be down for this if i can get a group of other in my area to go down, depending on the date and if i can get my car runnin again. A few years ago i had found a map that had the locations where the cops like to sit but i havent been able to find it.

I went last summer, i was in a mustang with my friend it was ####ing sweet, we only went like 60 but damn it was fun as shit. its like 5 hours away but damn its worth it

I'll be there yet again ! I'm new here to the forum but go to deals every year sometimes twice- take the bike mainly but now that gsx is pretty much ready she can have a go at the maze(hehe)

Anyone bringing a bike with? I might trailor car&bike anyone going from Florida I have extra bike slot on trailor !
