Are you still on the stock lines Patty Cakes? I got a double pumper coming too

Yup stock lines.....hope that's enough....there are plenty of Evo guys out there running e85 already but it seems like most are running it on smaller turbos not 35r's and bigger but i haven't done too much research on this yet.

100 octane was over $6 a gallon at the VP station in San Leandro a number of weeks ago .

where is the vp station in san leandro? Do they have anything else besides 100 octane?

Ive been looking through the VP site, and ERC racing fuels site, and its convienent that they dont have any pricing for any of their gas...

You have to replace any rubber lines right? Because the alcohol will tear at it?

It's probably because the prices change so often with how much the price per barrel is going up. Does E85 have the same cooling effects of running methanol, or at least some cooling effect?

Guys in the Link forum calculated that you can have 1150s at 100% IDC at around 52 lbs/min so 1600s would probably be more "future proof".

100 octane was over $6 a gallon at the VP station in San Leandro a number of weeks ago and people report that E85 is normally cheaper than 87 octane so at first glance it is considerably cheaper. But at the very least you'll need new injectors (and 1600s aren't cheap) and have to completely re-tune for the new fuel. I know you can switch tunes easily enough with DSMLink, but I've read that driveability with 1600s isn't so great when used with gasoline.

I think at the very least I'm going to try it and see if I like it.

That's about right, for me that's in the 25psi range. Anything more and I am past 100%. I want to go 1600's but not until there are more stations in the bay. If I have to put 91 in the tank the 1150's will drive better then the 1600's. I may try meth injection to get more out of my 1150's though. Changing the tune is easy for E85, stock 1G timing is a good start. Then setup the injectors for 20% more fuel. Then tune just like you would for race gas.

San Leandro, CA

The whole place is blue, so it's pretty hard to miss. :D

They sell 100 and 93 octane at the pumps, but I've heard they sell other fuels in pails and buckets too.

Not to get too side-tracked but i start this thred over on NCE.

If anyone here is SERIOUSLY interested and has cash ready i'll be looking into placing an order through the mgr. at the VP station there in San Leandro or the one in Los Altos.

Both mgr's are very nice and are willing to work w/ us on getting the fuel we need.

We need about 10 pails ordered to have them delivered to the VP station instead of having to pick them up in Stockton.

NorCalEvo.net : Official GROUP BUY for VP Q16

hmmm intersting.

What is pricing on it?

Haven't gotten exact prices but i'm guessing anywhere from $13-17 per gallon.

C16 is generally $12-14 per gallon so i'd imagine Q16 is maybe a few dollars more if that.

It's such a new fuel especially in these parts of the country so not many dealers even know about it........the people i have spoken with said they can get it though but need a batch order to do so.

C16 can be had pretty much anywhere.

You think this will do better than the A8C we've been using?

Honestly YES....but we'll have to test it out to be sure.

I'm a huge VP fan and only reason i went w/ A8C was availability and price @ $12/gall

I'd even want to run the C16 just for the sake of availability as well but at that point i'd stick w/ the A8C.

We'll see it's just hard to find Q16 in small quantities so that's why i need some others to pitch in for an order of 10 pails.

Next thing you know we're all gonna have big turbos and need the VP Import....$23ish/gallon last summer, I don't even want to know what it is now.

Lets just start running straight meth Pat, we can sell our intercoolers to pay for the extra set of injectors and fuel lines.

Honestly i'm not a big fan of SHABU (meth) unless it's straight NITROMETH :D

I don't think we'll ever get to the level of needing VP Import as i know for damn well none of us have the deep pockets for a set-up that needs it.

To get this sucker back on topic peep this:

I'm surprised E85 isn't all over NorCal already. We have a ton of stations out here in Colorado. And all the prices out here are under $3 a gallon. I'm seriously considering a switch, mainly due to the tuning benefits and the cooler burning characteristics. It's like running somewhere between C16 and 110 octane with meth injection for a fraction of the cost.

Hopefully it starts taking off out there. Everyone out here loves it.

Ya it's funny how we happen to have the most ass-backward, tree-huggin, smog nazis around the US but barely any E85 stations.........go figure :notgood:

I love and hate CA all at the same time ROFL

im so clueless about this e85, is there anywebsite or faq somewhere where i can learn more about this? im like 10 minutes away from the station in A street that's supposed to have this e85 soon and it's got me curious

E85 Info

Having that gas station close will be really convenient. If I had one that close to me I would be on E85 in a heartbeat.

nice evo! i have an 03 model also

Up here in MN E85 is around $2.70/gallon. Even though theres a trade off with using E-85 compared to 91 (price/cost) it's still cheaper for me to run E-85. I'm running 1000cc injectors on 25psi.

Concord huh, thats awesome. I think pat should just convert already.

Sorry to hear about the tranny, Brandon. I have a low mileage Shep Stage 3 laying around if you're interested.

It's up in the air now Edwin.

Don't know if i want to put more HP to her or not

But i might make the switch if i crunch the #'s and it'll save me some money if i just throw in the double pump and bigger injectors and try and stay in the 10.0 range.

$12/gall of race fuel is expensive but how often and how much is actually used during a race......maybe 4-5 gallons.
