Dyno Questions

Im interested in taking my car to go and get it dyno tuned, and i have a few questions i have all the supporting mods ect, and im wondering if these dyno places have there own programs, so would they be dyno tuning with dsmlink, or would they be dyno tuning with there program ?

ive been wondering this also, if i go to get my car tuned once i get new injectors and fuel pump, if i will have to buy dsmlink myself and take it to them to tune it, or if they would have their own program they tune with?

You will need to have some sort of tuning device installed for the dyno to tune with. Be it an SAFC, DSMlink, AEM, or anything else. They cannot just plug into your stock ECU and start changing maps.

You will need to have something installed in your car for them to tune So if you have DSMlink, that's what they would be using to tune. The only thing they may have that you might need is a wideband.

You have to have a way to tune it weather it be link, an afc or whatever. Then if you dont want to tune then yes, take it all to them.

sorry im kinda new to dsms, ive been reading around about a eprom ecu or socketed ecu? where car i find one for my 97gst? and then once i get that installed replacing my stock one i can get link and tune it myself or have someone else tune?

2G EPROM ECU's come from '95 Talons/Eclipses. You can verify that it is in fact EPROM by the serial number on the ECU. You'll have to search for the number.

Once you have an EPROM, you send it off to DSMlink to be socketed, once socketed you can install the DSMlink chip. Installation of the ECU is as simple as swapping ECU's.

You can then begin tuning yourself, or bring it to a shop for them to tune.
I'd suggest checking if the shop is proficient with DSMlink. We've seen some pretty hacked tunes on the DSMlink forums from some reputable shops.

When trying to find an EPROM ECU, make sure to take the cover off to verify it actually has an EPROM. There's been instances of people swapping front cases and people not opening it up.

I would recommend doing the tuning yourself as it's free, you learn how to tune, and you learn more about your car. There is plenty of information on here and the DSMlink forums (must own to be a member) once you want to start tuning.

where would i be able to find an eprom ecu ? and how do i check the serial # to verify its real? thanks for you guys help, my car is slightly modded right now, and just needs a good tune to push out some more power for my DD goals

Classifieds, junk yards, eBay...even the guys at ECMtuning (makers of DSMlink) might have a few to sell.

Finding eproms is getting harder and harder to do. Expecially since only the 95's have them. Hopefully ECMlink releases a 2g eprom conversion like they did with my 1g ecu. You can always look at other stuff to tune with. Greddy Emanage Blue will give you great fuel control and timing control for a very good price. If I couldnt afford ECMlink, eprom I would go with greddy.
