The smell lasts only a short time and those pads are the stock sound deadening. The ones that are planted with near 100% of their surface area are probably fine - leave them. But if any are just kinda slapped on etc go ahead and peel 'em off. They're not helping much.

When I did this project I took out all of the carpet padding and replaced it with new stuff from the local home carpet store. As for the smell, it did stink pretty badly when I was doing the spraying (which was with Duplicolor Rubberized Undercoat Spray and NOT Herculiner), but after reinstalling my new black painted carpet along with new seats the smell was not very strong at all. Within the next 3 to 4 days the smell was completely gone.

Now that I think about it... i kinda miss that smell. It's almost like "new car" smell.

I'm using the Duplicolor as well,have 2 coats on the hatch area and 1 where the seats are. Planning on the next 2 weeks or so to do the front. The smell isn't that bad,high heat seems to bring it out a bit,but I have yet to put the panels back on.

The company I work for owns a 2002 Ford F350 dually. It was sprayed with Line-X back in 2003 and since then it has held up just fine. We use it to carry power cables, metal and wood cases. There's a 5th wheel hitch installed in the bed and that also hasn't scratched the bed.

Are you actually using it for a bedliner, or are you repainting your factory wheel wells?

I still bought mine for $5 a can, and very happy how it came out, but also I am not throwing heavy objects and hauling stuff, this was just for my floor and trunk, because my car is completely gutted, and going to stay that way. Really just wanted something to try to drown out road noise. Although 3inch open down pipe doesn't really work out well either.

Please dont use the duplicolor spray on bed liner in the black and white can. Its garbage. I did a go cart frame with it, the truck of my honda, and the rear wheel wells of a silverado. On each application I scuffed the surface thoroughly. After spraying the product and giving it ample time to dry. It rubs off easily, and seems as though it never completly dries. It has been like 6 months that I did the whole trunk of my civic, and It stills seems as though, it has never dried. I would not use this product on anything.
