Anyone have experience with this paint? It seems like a pretty good deal... primer, paint, and clear available, and no mixing.

I'm not looking to paint the whole car, just a scraped side skirt. Just wondering how well their "white" would match factory white.

I used the primer on my fiberglass go cart body. Worked well, for what I used it for. That paint may look cheap but its actually pretty expensive since it doesnt go far at all. And I seriously doubt that it will match your factory paint. Just go ahead and fix it right, you'll be much happier.

Yes, fix it right!!

All white's are not white and all black's are not black! You have Northstar White I'm guessing and dupli-color's "polarbear white" or whatever won't look the same. Even if you're in a fix to just get it done now, later on you'll be mad you didn't do it right the first time.

I have used the paint on things other than cars and I haven't been let down by it. Then again I wasn't trying to match paint.

all there stuff primer color and clear are really good. it wouldnt match the greatest but its on you. i mean i dont know how bad the scrape is but if you already sanded it down and dont have the money to color match right now the champion white that duplicolor has would look better than no paint on it at all. but like i said im not sure how bad the scrape, personally if i was in a pinch i would go ahead and use it as a quick fix.

Yeah its decent paint I bought a gallon of Black Dupli Color from Advanced Auto Parts and painted my whole Jeep...It turned out great. The Jeep was RED before the paint job.

Yeah the gloomy weather helps out a bit. It Looked even better tho after I wet sanded it with 1500/2000 and buffed it!
Now It has 0% orange peel, And This paint job cost me less than $100 dollars! I think the gallon of black was 39.99! +14.99 for reducer + some money on sand paper and masking tape

The Jeep goes in the Woods/Mud every weekend... So I can say this paint is VERY durable and doesnt scratch easily!! Its almost like Tractor paint....you have to THIN it out quite a bit so it will spray right :)

^ I believe it's time for me to learn how to spray. My car needs a paint bad. That's a nice paint on that jeep. Dupli-color worked really well.

Sprayed on? What type of equipment did you use?

Looks great!

Thanks! Yeah I sprayed it with a Finex HVLP (high volum Low Pressure) gun...let it dry for a week then I wet sanded it with 1500 then 2000...Then I hit it with a 1200rpm buffer and some light rubbing coumpound....last I used some 3M swirl mark remover!

:talon:

I've used that Paint numerous times. Also in a high volume low pressure gun, with great success.. :thumb:

With a Good prep and final sanding before polishing.. It will come out Very glossy. even without a clear coat..

I'm going to pick up some of the paint and give it a try then. I've been looking for a good affordable paint to redo my 300ZX with so I can finally sell it. I'll make sure to post the results once I'm done. My 2gb will need paint too.

Good to see some good results and positive reviews.
As far as paint matching my side skirt... most of the scrape is on the edge/underside of the skirt, not very noticeable but just enough to bother me. It's small, so I'll probably just get a paint shop to mix up just a rattle can of the proper color.

On a side note, anyone have any pictures of how the duplicolor blue comes out? My 1g is in need of some paint, wondering how it compares to the stock color.

I wouldn't hope on it matching very well. Maybe the white or the black might match, but any other color you have a 2% chance of them matching. Just go to an Auto Parts store that mixes paint to match like you said!

Dupli color is better for a full Re-Paint

ive heard this paint is good, and was thinking bout getting some to paint my car. i think id still shoot some clear on it though.

Nice job! How much of that gallon did you use to paint the XJ?

I hate to add to a resurrected thread. But the best way for you to go in your situation, is to go to a paint store PPG, NAPA, or the like. Just speak with a rep there. If you just want a cheap paint job thats easy to spray, I would just get some cheap single-stage paint. I would recommend PPG's industrial line of paint. Its a single-stage, its easy to spray, and its cheap. Its like $70 for a gallon with the activator. You mix it 4:1 and spray two wet coats, and your good (based on the fact that you did you prep right). If you want something a little better you could try PPG's OMNI brand.
