Dumbest things you've heard a DSMer say? :)

friend that works at napa- i cant wait til you get yout hx40 in how much boost can you run on that?
me- well my boost gauge maxes out at 30psi so i probably wont run over that until i get a new boost gauge, but with toluene i can probably get much more asuming i dont get knock.

napa store manager- toluene, that stuff will melt your pistons, i used it in one of my cars and it melted mine
me- did you have forged pistons and a tuning solution?
napa store manager- yea
me- FORGED....pistons?
napa store manager- yes...?
me- oookay... enough said...*walks away* (this guy is a 50 year old hick drives a GEO metro convertable, guy has no built motor, and obviously has no idea of the additives in race gas or octane booster..)

You really wouldn't. :) There are plenty of all motor Civics that would walk the pants off of a good percentage of our membership.

Because they are gutted to hell with high compression racing engines, and the majority of Tuners are under 400hp with stock weight? Yeah, I can't imagine that being an unfair race.

It doesn't matter if it's stripped to the gills (many are full interior; compression y0); run what you brung. If it isn't "fair" don't line up, but don't tell me there aren't fast Civics, or that the majority of our members are 12s or lower. Neither is correct.

Read my post again and see if I said anything you're arguing against. :)

For real. There is some real fast civics out there. Maybe about 2% of them, but they're out there haha

Yea I hate when people look down on n/a civics. The first time I saw one go 11.6 I was a believer. If eg civics weren't such a death trap I'd get one haha.

GTF0! :ohdamn:

I would never own a civic or Honda. I'm not a fan at all. My dsm is my first 4 cylinder car I've ever owned. I'm a mustang guy. But you gotta show respect for all the work that goes into those little Hondas to make them quick. A fast car is a fast car regardless of what kind it is or what's powering it.

I'd own an EF hatch and do an AWD conversion from the earlier civics. But on the other hand search on YouTube the word "Bisimoto" and you'll think twice about what an all motor civic can do.

Let me start off by saying my most two local car yards are ones I don't wish upon anyone the misfortune of venturing to. Ridiculous prices and people telling you what you should and shouldn't buy for YOUR car.

Anyway. So my Autozone alternator craps out. There's no Autozone nearby at all. I needed it fixed and PRONTO, but I was not about to pay $130+ on a new one. So I say what the hell let's try out that Saturn alternator mod I have read about. I mean, there's a ton of those alternators around and even the local yard shouldn't bend me over too far for that.

So I call up the local yard and the regular... 'unpleasant' lady answers the phone. We don't get along.

"Hey you guys have any 90's Saturns out there? Looking for an alternator off of any 90's S series Saturns"

"What year"

"Okay, any year but lets just pick a 97' to 'KISS' "

"UGH (she's annoyed already) what year is your car"

"I don't have a Saturn but I need an alternator off of one for a project"

"(she's pretty worked up now for whatever reason) WHY do you want one"

"Okaaaaayy, I'll tell you.... I'm building a rocket ship and in dire need of keeping the battery charged. Instead of picking whatever the hell alternator, I figured I'd have the best luck with a *Saturn* alternator since I'm heading to that planet anyway. I also have a Flux Capacitor on board so I need all the luck I can get..."

"(I couldn't tell what kind of laugh it was but it was a laugh none the less) Fine. The only Saturn we have is a 96' SL1."

"I'll be in later today, thank you"

Well the damn thing still cost me $45. That's without the pigtail and the rear bearing sounded shot. Luckily Napa tested it and turned out to be good so I just relubed the bearing since it's only for a 1K mile trip and I'll buy a good new one with a lifetime warranty. I plan on making a heat shield and beefing up the wiring too.

I have had one kid tell me it would be totally worth it to swap in a VTEC engine for my 4G63.
Then there is a slew of DSMers that rely on ebay and an SAFC for all there mods and tuning needs. One of these "gentlemen" suggested that the SAFC would be my optimum tuning choice oveer my Evo ECU or even Link. I was gonna ask why but I decided to let him have his opinion and carry on.
