Dumbest things you've heard a DSMer say? :)

You could always drive it up on ramps at your home...keep that nostalgic "build/project" feeling. :p

Casually driving into a car show last summer (as a visitor), I had some d-bag yell "Eclipses are slow!"

I tried to find Wes' profile to read the argument; I failed. I wanted to know more about my car from FB gurus.

Unfortunately I deleted the useless banter from my FB, otherwise I'd post a screen shot. It was pretty funny, but I have young/old family members who can see my FB that don't exactly need to see some punk swearing like a sailor when he's wrong. :coy:

As for the Hyundai costing more/less than my DSM, this summer I put over 2k in suspension parts (including wheels/tires), another 1k in other random parts including E85 conversion, and 2k for a Jacks trans and SB clutch setup. This winter I'll be dropping another 2k on the Holset install. So at this rate, I'm paying over $7k a year for my DSM. :| Not to mention it pretty much consumes my spare time and it spends 90% of it's time sitting and waiting to devour more money. I love it, but at the end of the day it's much more expensive than a new Genesis and much less daily capable, which is what a college student needs. One major pot hole and there goes my $1k rims/tires. One dead fuel injector and there goes my $2k engine. I couldn't burn money faster than I spend it on my DSM.

And thanks to the fiscal cliff or whatever, my wife didn't get her $10k in Fin Aid this semester. So guess who gets to foot the bill? And I physically can't work, go to school, finance two needy little DSM's, and try to build one all at the same time. So unfortunately, I might be taking up that 11.5K offer. Whether I'll pick up a Genesis or not, I'm not sure yet. For now I'm just going to focus on this turbo install and enjoy what might be my last few months with my DSM. :sosad:

Was there really arguements about something that stupid?

LOL unfortunately, yes. But I guess I'm not surprised considering this kid installed his PR FMIC upside down.

Ha wes, once you get that holset on there youll be caught hook, line and sinker

So will anybody who wants to buy it. :p

But I know what you mean, my buddy has a 6262 equipped Celica. I could never get enough WOT pulls in that thing.

I was talking to a 'dsm' guy at work several days ago. I had just mentioned to him that I found a 90 Tsi AWD that I'm currently trying to purchase. He chimed in about his old 2g.

"My old Eclipse was total crap man. I had to work on it constantly. I'd never buy another one."
This made me wonder why, so I asked him what model it was.

"It was a bone stock GS turbo, but it was front wheel drive. The turbo was so tiny it didnt even feel like it had one."
A bone stock GS turbo huh? interesting.. No wonder you couldnt feel it. Then he said the dumbest thing yet.

"Yeah, I dont really see why they put the turbo hood on it either, it just looks dumb, it didnt help it spool or anything. They could have easily just lowered the turbo and taken off that cover and saved room."
Because turbos look so much like cam gears. Now I see why he had to work on it so much.

At this point I just shook my head and agreed with him because I didnt want to call him out in front of everyone else there, but comming from a self proclaimed 'dsm-er' and a semi knowledgable car guy this made me kinda angry.

Wow! LOL thats gotta be thee dumbest thing I've heard in a long time! Haha i think I need a new hood my turbo doesn't wanna spool LOL. The timing belt isn't even on that side on a gs LOL

I'd be happy to put that DSM in the rearview mirror for Lando. :)

Thinkin you're gonna put me on the trailer with a 3.73 rear gear, some trick flow bits and a 175 shot? Maybe, but not with the 302 LOL

What tire?

Bet that's a fun car for sure though. What CID and Trans? Still SBF under the hood?

I'm looking at picking up a fox body roller local to me for some radial tire racing, the 275 classes are a blast. Couple buddies of mine are running mid-low 5s at 130+ to the 660' with some real simple setups in their "stock-style" suspension notches.

I still can't believe he drove that SOB from my neck of the woods to FL on that setup. ;)

Should be fun on a Hoosier QTP or something. My car isn't that radical yet; it's a fair bit into the 11's on motor, haven't smacked it with the spray at the track yet so we'll have to see what it does. I'm guessing mid 10's.

They can be nasty that's for sure. This car will eventually be pushed more towards a weekend/track car, but for now I still drive it pretty much every day.

Haha! Car actually drove just fine and knocked down a little over 20mpg. Wish I could have stayed longer though. :(

i guess my favorites are the so called dsm guys that get all of their knowledge from the internet haha. you probably all know what im talking about, they go around like a human honey bee dipping into the nectar of internet forums just enough to get a little on their stinger and then spread that little bit onto another forum like a mosquito spreading the plague LOL. you know what i mean, like shep runs this on this turbo and head or kiggly runs this number with this stuff so thats what i am running LOL.
