I got my DSS Coilovers in yesterday. Im really exicted to get these put in monday. I highly reccomend working with DSS for any of your needs. They have been there to answer my 1,048,208,098 questions. They have great customer service, and are willing to help even after the sell.

Interesting - what will your primary uses be for them? (Street, AutoX, Road Course, Drag, Rally, all of the above?) Please keep us updated on how they work out!

Mine came on monday and will be going in tomarrow. :) Mike @ DSS is a very helpful person.

What shocks will you be using?

I will be using Koni Yellows

Its a street/drag car. The more I do to it tho the less I wanna drive it on the street. This coilover setup is there Drag set up, which Mike said sucks for street driving.

I assume the springs are really stiff? especially the rears to limit squatting during hard acceleration.

Yes they are. Not to sound like the tipical ricer and copying the big guys or anything. But Shephard ran this same setup untill he broke it to the 8's. When I talked to him while he was building my tranny he highly recommed them and loved how they worked. You cant aruge with what works.

Wow! I've never seen a picture of them before, they look awesome. I have a question, does the price on the website include the top strut mounts?

Thats the kit thats listed, everything in the pic was for that price. There are a little differences between struts in the rear, depending on what you run. Mike @ DSS said that there is a backorder on Koni Yellows till sometime in Oct. They also have a street/strip setup that they said handles great and is still bad ass at the track. He told me that the Drag setup is rough as hell on the street.

I got the street setup Mike recomended and the Koni yellows. So far I think it almost rides better than my 85k old stock parts. Different, but better. Definately not what I was expecting from a performance suspension. As for handling and whatnot, I'm not really qualified to say but it feels better than it did on the stock parts. Also, no more rear end squat.

I'm very pleased.

To the guy who asked about the strut mounts, no the top front strut mount it not part of the kit. It is the stock part. I bought new ones for my car. $50 a side I think.

I have noticed when people do a "sleeve" kit.. the stock perch needs to be cut off the shock cause they get in the way of lowering the care more. Is that the case with these ro do you order diff part numbered shocks without perches?

The front perches have to go with this kit. The two silver collars in the pic about are what the sleeve rests on in the front. This lets you use a longer front spring than the normal GC kit. I think the longer spring lets you lower the car more before running into a coil bind situation.

Take it to your local bodyshop and have them shave it off. Grinding and cutting metal is what they do. :)

Koni Sports for the 1Gs are inserts in the front. Not a complet shock. You'd have to cut and remove the stock front shock internals and then replace with the new Konis.

Do a search here, or dsmtalk. I remember coming across a step by step installation article (on the Konis, not DSS).

I also remember reading posts from various folks saying that the rear Koni perches are fairly easy to remove as they are held on by paint and friction (press fit?)... something along the lines of a good whack with a mallet would break the perches free. I am not 100% certain in this info.

So I should be able to do this setup with no problems at all then, regarding perches being in the way

So any more after thoughts? How do you like them now? Im looking into getting them

I have yet to run the car. I still have to tune it, and have run out of cash for a bit. So it will just sit out in the yard till I get the money put back. I done to much at one time, and now that its done, its just gonna set and wait.

I have the Koni Yellows + GC coilovers and let me tell you all this. The rides is MUCH smoother and better comparing to AGX + Prokit. I wish I had gone with DSS coilovers but I didn't think GC is that bad either. AGX/Prokit rides pretty harsh comparing to Konis. I wish Konis would gives as much adjustibility as AGX does. In the end, I would give Konis :thumb:

Ok so I have been driving this car all day now that its up and running. I must say this car feels great. Its really stiff and dont give much. But it still rides better then my dually. They said I would hate life with the drag suspension, I would not have it any other way. I will be takin it to the local 1000ft track for some fun. I will let you know how it does there.
