Ok everyone, what i need to find out is with my knowledge do i want DSMLink or a SAFC

What i have on my car so far is just a bit above basic upgrades. Intake, intake pipe, Greddy Type-S BOV, MBC, UICP, (boost, EGT, A/F) gauges, Ported exhaust mani, ported O2, 2.5 DP, 3 cat/catback, 255HP FP.

eventually when i get the $$$ ill be putting a big16 in my car, im looking for in the range of 350WHP.

However, i am still learning about these cars and dont wanna kill it. I have heard you can kill ur engine if you tune it wrong.

Any help, advice, personal opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jerry

I'm certainly no tuning guru, but I just got DSMLink and I love it and recommend it. It has more capability than an AFC, and it's just as easy to use. I think you'd be happier in the long run with it because as you become more knowledgeable, you'll most likely not "outgrow" it. Unless you go full standalone, it'll be all you ever need. And it's a much better datalogger than other loggers too, such as tunerstein and pocketlogger. You can actually log knock, which is very helpful.

Dsmlink was the BEST mod I have done to the car yet. Period.

im not really worried about how much i have to spend. Need to save up a little more to get it then so be it, thats what i have to do. Dont wanna say money is no object, but im not going to cut corners $$$ wise when their is a product that is better.

My biggest worry, is i dont wanna hurt my car.

EPROM ECU, really, i thought u sent ur ECU to have a chip installed in it, then DSMLink would work.

What does everyone usually do to get one?

Yeah, you will need an EPROM ECU. they came in 95 models only. They can be identified by a "E" on the sticker on the case. Start trying junkyards (most do not relize the eprom is worth more) or try ebay, trader etc. I have seen them go as low as 125 to 275. I personally have bee staying away from the dsmtrader. There seems to be alot of shady people on there trying to make a quick buck lately.

ok, well damn thanks for the info.

One last question, is their a difference between the gst/gsx ECUs. i have a GSX.

With this mentality, you are on a great path. :thumb:

Get the DSMlink for sure. For those power levels, a 50 trim turbo would also be worth the extra cost. AGP turbo's are nice and reliable.

There are minor differences. It doesn't matter which one you get. Whether it's out of a manual or automatic, gst or gsx with DSMLink their all the same.

awsome, hey everyone thanks for all the info. Looks like ill be getting LINK soon i guess, well soon as i can find a ECU

ive been thinking about getting a dsmlink as well and i have a 95 EPROM, so would i still have to send them my ECU? My ECU has never been worked on by anyone.

yea, you still need to send it in for them to put another EPROM chip in it i believe, may be a little mislead with what they have to put it, but yes you still need to have work done to the ECU.

Cost me $200 here local to get a 95 Eprom, "E" ECU.

Then since it was "stock" I had to send it into DSMLINK to have it "socketed". They pull your stock Eprom chip out, and put a socket in, so they can plugin the new DSMLINK Eprom in the socket.

The socket service, + the DSMLINK Chip, cable, adapter, software and shipping came to about $650.00

So I have $850.00 into this thing!

BUT........Let me tell you, this thing is the Shintz!

You can log almost EVERYTHING, from alt volts, coolant temps, Airflow, timing, Knock, and MUCH, MUCH more ON A 2G!

SAFC 1 or 2 CANT, PERIOD!

You can trim, add fuel by RPM band, same with timing.

You also CAN BLOW YOUR MOTOR, If your a aggressive dumb ass, and don't watch your knock and EGT's!

So Far I've made some "lite" tweaks, and man can I already feel a major power difference!

Can't wait to take her to the track and really dail her in, hoping to get another 50 hp out of her.

Best $850 I spent so far on this car.

Save up your money, learn MORE, Do MORE, forget the SAFC, Get the DSMLINK!
