DSM oil pressure gauge from head

I am wondering what all is needed to install a oil pressure gauge from the head and have it run to a gauge installed inside the cabin. Thanks
 
Well you could just buy a machanical oil pressure gauge kit then all you would need is a place to tap into the head. Why do you want to know the oil pressure at the head?
 
....to feed my Holset turbo and it dont explode from to much oil pressure? Ha. I guess I dont understand what your trying to say.
 
I was just asking because the pressure from the head is usually significantly lower than the oil pump or filter housing. I dont think you have anything to worry about, i havent heard of anyone having too high oil pressure problems from the head.

Rather be safe then sorry I guess, I have had to many issues with oiling of turbos in the past few years and never really thought about the issue much. I finally sacked up and bought a decent size turbo, built trans/motor and decided to make some real power and wanna do it legit.

And with the oil line into cab, I dont feel it should be an issue as ss braided line will be used.
 
That would require me to buy new (extra unneeded) fittings to feed my turbo from the front of the head where the set screw is, because I already have the extreme psi head feed kit that connects to the banjo fitting. I have already checked into the STM kit but thanks and I appreciate the help. Trying to make it so I can still use the stock sending unit off the OFH and still get the reading for the oil pressure off the head at least for a hundred or so miles so I can be positive the pressure is well sustained.
 
just a suggestion but something i thought about doing when i put my turbo in was try and T off from the oil feed line going to the turbo it will tell u pressure going to the turbo. all you would need to do is get a rubber steel braided line with a T. just a suggestion..

That would be the same thing as if you just used the oil port on the front of the head instead of the side. Ports I believe are the same size/thread, so I believe that they should produce the same amount of pressure, and for peice of mind id rather not have anything inline of the turbo.
 
The port on the front of the head is a regular pipe thread so you just need some compression fittings to fit and run some copper line into the cabin. Most tracks won't allow the cheap plastic line that comes with the kits. I had this set up on my car for years with no troubles.
 
Copper line? please elaborate on this..pics prefered, but links to a site that has some examples would be even better.
