Well Ive been doing a little reading up on this. Havn't found all that much on it......mayby my searching skills are in there lack of :p lets not go there. From what I understand so far, I send them my ecu to get the eprom socketted, they install the dsmlink eprom, from there I will be tuning everthing from a labtop plugged into the obdII port. Is this right??
Also you guys out there with it now, how hard is it to work with? did you run into any problems? Im just trying to get all the info on this i can. I want to know if its what im looking for........Im not getting it anytime soon....But I dont want to buy an safc and later on wind up getting this.....sorry if this is a repo....I searched and read all that I found....help me out on this on guys...

Yes all tuning will be done with a laptop via the OBDII port, but there is also a PDA version of the software so you are supposed to be able to use that as for tuning as well. Also yes you just send them the ecu an they can do the rest. Turn around was very fast with great customer service. There discussion board is also very helpful because you get quality responses from not only the guys who made it but also from people who have experience with it as you can only have an account if you have purchased the link, I believe. I love mine even though I haven't even began to utilize all of its capabilities.

:thumb: I definately agree and I would also like to add that I used a SAFC II before the link and I think that dsm link is not any harder, maybe even easier to tune with. With the built in capability to log and log so much more, tuning is simple even for me, and I just got started about 3 months ago.

GET THE DSM LINK AND YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED!!! ;)

Thanks for clearing that up for me......wow so I get to be like F@F b/s with a comp in my car  Just a joke keep the pants on.....I actually think that needing a computer to make adjustment might make things a little difficult, But I think it sounds worth it. My goal is 12s and I need a few more supporting mods....but from there I will be at a stand still without fuel control. Im even a little leary about running 16lbs as the motor stands.....I know im paranoid but its my D/D so im just being careful. Thanks again guys...Oh yea you said there is something else that can be used for tuning beside the computer??? What exactly is it and how do i use it?

There is a Palm based client that is written by a man name Hal Landry. He has his own forum on the DSMlink forums for any problems associated with it. I think there are only a few things that can't be done on the palm that can be done on the laptop. I haven't personally used the Palm version since I gave mine to my buddy but I hear it's almost the exact same as the laptop version. DSMlink was the best money I spent on my car, hands down. :thumb:

In that case - I'm totally sold
Thanks for the work Hal.

Man I love how you just say someones name and they appear :p haha......HAL I want to read more about this, could you post a link to your site...or somewhere we can buy and read some more about this palm client, It sounds like its something id like to get into. Thanks again

The palm client is made available, at no cost, to registered owners of DSMLink via the support forums.

All of the details about it are available there.

Trust me when i say this from experience. Tuning your car w/dsmlink via computer is simple. Say you want to take fuel out at 5k, go to the 5k slider and take some out. Its just like turning the volume on you computer up or down except you can do it with the fuel and timing etc for your car.

Finding a laptop shouldn't be hard at all, i bummed one off my brother who wasn't using it and guess what kind of processor it has. a 166mhz pentium. Yes, just pentium not pentium II, or III or 4. That should give you an idea of what kind of processing power you need.

As for the benefits....Well i run an evo 16g at around 20psi on the STOCK 2g sidemount with 93 octane and get at most 2 counts of knock all the way through. These might not be the most impressive numbers, but given that its on my sidemount the results speak for themselves. I know you won't be disappointed. Oh yeah, and you'll actually be able to turn your boost gauge into a useful variety of gauges such as a knock gauge or timing gauge plus a bunch more cool stuff that i wont even get into.

Hope this helps a little :thumb:
