To give a brief history... I've been through almost 10 alternators in the last year.

With that being said, I've been in the process of trying to figure out why my alternators keep dying. They're all remanned from Advance Auto, so I'm sure that's a portion of the problem, but I'm pretty sure there is an underlying issue causing them to fail with such consistency.

After installing my latest alternator, I started up the car and have been seeing about 13.5-14 volt from a cold start. The interesting thing is that as the car grows warmer, the voltage drops to about 12.5-13. During my last install I noticed that there are small rips in the insulation that connects to the bolt on the alternator. Could that be part of the problem? I feel like the heat of the engine is causing some sort of bad ground of loss of efficiency somewhere in my wiring. Any ideas on this matter?

Assuming the alternator is a good unit the only two possibilities are wiring or incorrect tension strength. (unless your spilling fluids or something into it)

I'm pretty sure the tension is alright, there's no squeaking or anything to that degree.

Also, the biggest thing to me is that the voltage drops as the engine bay temp rises, suggesting to me it's some sort of wiring problem. I do have a volt meter, are there any connections I could check to see if I'm losing voltage from one end to another?

You need to travel a goodly distance, or order off the web, and get a rebuilt that's done by a different shop than the clinkers you've been getting. Whoever is doing those rebuilds isn't doing them well enough.
