I'm planning to get back into Autocrossing and I want to use my 2G RST for autox but its registered non-op right now and its not smog legal with the turbo kit. I don't want to go through all the hassle and cost of smogging it and insuring it if I'm just going to use it as a weekend race car.
Does anyone do the same thing. Have a non-op car just for autocross and they just drive it the autocross.
I was thinking of just getting a one day moving permit every autocross. Will this work and how does the insurance work for this, do you need insurance if you move it one day? There has to be someone people get their non-op cars to autocrosses and stuff. Like a special event pass or something.
This is in California also.

... why don't you just "tip" the smog guy. that way you can register and insure it. If you want to avoid using a trailer than thats really the only logical way of going about it. It's going to be a major pain in the ass any other way.
