Well first off, I can not post this in the proper section due to the fact I have less the "30 tech posts". No smart ass answers here in the noob page, I don't like being restriced when I read for my problems instead out of opening my mouth. I have problem that I cant find in the front end of my car. I have replaced axles and wheel bearings and still have a "whooshing" noise. Its really getting at me! I'm starting to think it's coming from the output bearing(s). Has anyone had a problem like this? I have checked everything I can and cant find it. I'm not finding anything that is loose or an area that is making heat from friction. I'm stumped if anyone has had a problem like this your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Does it change with engine rpms or vehicle speed? That will narrow it down to engine/tranny/clutch or wheel/axle/driveshaft. Is it more noticeable in a certain gear? Only when you are accelerating/decelerating or when you are cruising? If you can answer those then you can narrow it down...

It is at final speed or linked with the speed of the tires. It has no gear it is any more or less just louder as the speed resistance increases. It seems to be less "noisy" under acceleration and maybe a bit louder under decel. That may just be engine noise just buffering it. If your going 65 and put it in neutral it slows with the speed of the car, by 15 you cant hear it anymore..??

It sounds like a bearing went bad on your hub assembly. I had the same problem and figured it'd be best to change the whole hub... Not a easy job, 25 tons of force couldn't push that ####er off the axle.

Yeah, being a probationary member sucks, I just want the ability to message people so I can use this awesome marketplace:D

There aren't many transmission issues you could look at without a teardown but the front diff, transfer output(and the output shaft that feeds from the front diff) would all travel at the same speed relative to the car and wouldn't change with a gear change. You also have the intermediate bearing on the drivers axle.
