I have a 96 tsi awd, and heres the problem. When i put it in drive (its an auto), and im sitting still with the brake held it makes a horrible clunking sound. It doesnt make any noise under accelerating, at least not that i can hear over the exhaust.

I did some looking around, and its coming right from the carrier bearing right next to the cat. Ive seen this on 1g's, does this happen on 2g's too? Please provide me with guidance this noise is driving me crazy. thanks in advance!!

Defiant: 7-20-05 must've been a rough day at the office or something. I happened to be looking in all the drivetrain threads and you replied to most with sour remarks. LOL!

I know it must be frustrating, but c'mon. J/K keep up the good work.
