Drip Moldings

So I was too focused on my engine rebuild to notice that the drip moldings were being discontinued. Does anybody have or know where I can get a set?

The uppers are discontinued but you can still buy the lower ones (ones on the doors)

You'll have to find them used...

Best place to look is craigslist, dsm classifieds, ebay..

I bought some mint ones off a DSMer parting out his car a couple of months ago..

About a year ago I scraped all the dried rubber off and sanded them down some and just sprayed them with with some matte paint and at least they looked ok. At least the metal wasn't showing.
Recently I had the idea of spraying them with plasti dip black. I think it would work as long as the edge to the glass is still intact. I found some at Home Depot for less than $7 a can. It was in the paint dept. I think its worth a try until you can find some to replace them. I got the idea from reading a thread on here of a guy plasti dip spraying his whole car. It actually looked pretty good.
I think i remember a vendor on here has some sets of drip rails too. Love to hear them chim in so the plasti dip can be backup.

This is what I did, but try the plastidip with some clear coat. It looks just like oem

How long have you had the plasti dip applied? any yellowing with a top coat? What clear did you use?

I actually didnt clear mine....think i wanna try that.
So id also like to know what type of clear you used.
Mine arent actually on the car yet..its getting painted as soon as the weather is better..and i get a little more cash..

I threw on about 4 coats of black plastidip, three light coats of clear and a final heavy coat of clear to finish.

I used duplicolor's perfect match clear coat.

It shines like oem and feels like it too, not rough like with just plastidip.

The bottom trim piece was not touched at all, just the one that goes above the mirror. It looks like I didn't mask it off well enough though

But the rails still look perfect

Thanks for the pics and the info. I think they look great. I think this answers coolhawks question and lets me know it can be done and look good too.
HHmm what else can plasti dip be used for Coat a car. Give some crap looking wheels new life. I used it on my timing cover. Undercoating?

Too bad they quit making the mouldings though.

lucky enough for me if i get too hard up i can take them off this hunk of purple metal i've got sitting in my driveway. it may donate it's motor to another car... not sure yet. see if you can find some cars in the junkard. that's what i would do
