Has anybody ever heard of a dsm drifting professionally? or even unprofessional? I thought someone would have done it by now.I havn't seen any video's on youtube or anything like that.

I am sure, there is someone that has done it before. Most guys here, run GYMKHANA, Auto-Cross. What basically is real drifting, but with a more technical fashion.

Our cars are either FWD or AWD. There is no RWD mod that can be done easily by simply removing the shafts or something of that manner. This means we are stuck either trying to be Ken Block and drift AWD or do a full drivetrain overhaul. And Ken Block is using some type or sequential transmission developed by a third party company. I read an article on it a while back and the PR people were real nervous about these guys taking pictures of certain things, and afterwards the authors gave their theories on all the mysterious SS lines and cables running all over the car. Anyways its not an easy endeavor, or a cheap one.

Lots of people have drifted Mitsu Mighty Max trucks w/ 4G63T engines swapped into them. Never looked but heard they bolt right up or perhaps to the Starion RWD gearbox.

But, why bother. V8 is the way to go. So much smoother power and torque to link corners together better. Even the Nissan guys swap out 6cylinder turbos for V8s.

that's cool so has anybody ever seen the red rwd talon 1g?
how do they make it rwd? because the 1 video i seen looked like a pretty low budget project.

You can drift it as an AWD but I will be damned if it wouldn't be much easier t just get a rwd Celica, 200sx, 240sx, RX7, or E36 to drift in.

Oh man just can't let this one fly :sneaky:

Not really my thang to be harpin' on one for starting a new thread but if you were really interested you could have typed "drift dsmtuners" under google and *whalah*

first result.

I thought there was an imported transmission that was switchable between AWD and RWD that came on some Evo's?

There are some post's of people having these transmission's you have to remove a bolt to make it go into RWD and install it to go back to AWD.

I believe its the other way around, switch it from awd to fwd.

There's one parked outside our shop LOL. RWD, 1g, eagle talon. Built 2.0, full suspension, and from what I have been told, not very easy to drift. Yea its cool for burnouts and donuts, but to transition, and keep smooth slides, its a real b**ch. They werent built to slide, or be RWD for that matter. An AWD drift is cool, but nowhere near the smokey, tire shredding drifts, that RWD cars (ones that were RWD from the factory) produce.

The one posted above this post, is the one I'm referring to.^^^^^^^

Maybe the suspension just needs to be tuned properly? Idk if drifters have a specific way they set up the suspension or not.

Nobody seen this video, ok it's not real drifting but this car 's getting all the potential to do it!!!

I've shown all my friends and even my father this video. My father asked why do you put so much time and money into a car. Showed him that and he said "oh, I see" LOL. Anyway it's a good video and an inspiration for me. But I like to mess around like that. I'm going to be doing a remake of the video one day when I'm done and have some spare tires, a parking lot, and a lift.

Wanna see a DSM really drift? Come to a rallyrace.

Probably a better idea than a parking lot is to find your local amatuer drift scene/forums and pay small entry fee to one of their driver clinics and learn tips and have a safer environment w/ EMS standing by.

Although these guys may not know DSM, they'll have a clue about what gearing, springs and tires to use to make you better before you start.

I'm sure this car can drift if the driver wanted to.

this isnt the red tsi i was talking about but i have seen this video. thats what got me wondering about a drift dsm. just thought it would be cool to see one of our cars dominate the drift world like we do at the strip dsm ftw:hellyeah:

Everyone knows a dsm can dominate the drifting world , They are just giving everyone a head start
