Drag Tires on the Rear???

I am thinking about running drag tires on the rear of my awd. The fronts would be 205/40/17 and the rears would be 225/45/17. Is this going to be okay if only driven to the track and back??? Has anyone done something like this.

no it is not OK you cant put different sizes tires you must keep them all the same or you will mess your your T-Case this isnt a RWD car

why would you need drag tires on an AWD? One of the beautiful things about awd is the convenience that you dont have to buy drag tires for the track.

If you are having a traction issue with ES100's, what size are they?

And to answer the question, no, you can't run two different diameter tires on an AWD car. You can run different widths, but the overal circumference needs to be the same.

Why do you feel that you only need DR's in the back and not all the way around? Do you even really need them at all let alone on just two wheels?

This is in my signiture for all of you guys saying I need to spend my money more wisely. Suspension mods include tein ss coilovers and poly bushings all the way around. I Think I am fine there. The mods in my profile were when I first registered back when I was pretty clueless about DSMs. I am able to pull 1.7 60' but if I try to push my car a bit harder I will break my rears loose every time. I am running 205/40/17 and realize this is part of the problem. (Got them really cheap) I am trapping 114mph and only running mid 12s. I have seen some awds running just slicks on the rear and there normal tires up front. Just wondering.

OK, lets say you need to be wiser before you spend your money. With 2 different size tire front and rear, you risk burning up the vc, breaking the center diff, and /or breaking the transfer case. One or more of these things WILL happen. Thats like putting 33"'s on the front of a 4wd blazer and 44"'s on the rear.

EDIT: you can run 2 different sizes as long as the overall height stays the same. With what you are asking, the 205-40 will be roughly 23.46" tall where the 225-45 are roughly 24.08" tall. Thats 1/2" difference which will play havoc on your drivetrain.

Doesn't Nitto make a set of drag radials? We're not on you for getting drags, just getting different sized drags that will fry your center diff or ruin the transfer case, or both.

Calm down, no offence intended. I just wanted to make this clear before you cost yourself a lot of money. If I didnt state it that way, Im sure someone would have to argue then you would have gotten mixed suggestions. Worse yet, one of those people that you seen running 2 diff size tire on the awd would have chimed in and said "It will work with no problems. I know because I do it all the time" but fail to mention that hey break their center diff about 1 time a month and they think it is because they make so much power.
