if i run 3 degrees of base timing, will it make the car feel slow or idle rough or anything bad? normal base timing is 5 degrees, if i lower it by 2 degrees, does that mean i will see 2 less degrees of timing at redline or throughout the rev band or does it equate to an even greater drop by redline?
thanks for the help

Tony a lot of guys run their base back 2 or 3 degrees. I doiubt you will feel much at all. Of course it will give you less total timing at redline but I am not sure if it will be 2 * or if it will be a bit more. Getting too much knock? I have the other problem, timing being pulled too much without knock. Trying to get a new chip with more agressive timing curve! Mark

I run 5* base timing. You will see a HP diffrence with less timing sure. If you are seeing knock turn down the boost. Run a little less if your on a 9.0:1 Compression ratio. But we normally set the timing between 4or 5*

sweet97, if you have no knock and timing is being pulled, why dont you raise the base timing, it will give you more power through the rpm range?

Yes you will get more power. It will increse your timing in teh upper rpms but make sure you have no knock.

Tony, KEYDIVER has my chip burned for a higher map to allow high boost(I am running around 27psi) on pump. I am getting another chip that will not allow the timing to go below 18* after6k to see if I can get away with that. I shift at 8k now. mark
