hey guys im going to be getting the 3" R&D Thermal exhaust with some of the $ from my tax return =)

my question is, am i going to have to get a 3" DP also and cat? or can i just get the 3" and put it on the car, then buy trhe other parts later?

also whats the best/cheapest DP ?? do other brands out perform or sound better? or are they basically all the same?

thnx

If you are going to upgrade your exhaust in stages, I suggest you start at the muffler end and work towards the turbo.

It's kind of pointless to slap a 3" DP on an otherwise stock exhaust system, you know?

Once you have it all done, you will be like :D :D

I have a Buschur 3" Downpipe, 3" High Flow Cat and the Thermal 3" Cat Back and I love it. It sounds very deep and not in the least bit ricey. I would buy everything and do the install all at once, or start with the cat back and work forward as the previous poster wisely mentioned.

I bought the Extreme Motorsports - Thermal R&D turbo back with high flow cat combo from Extreme. It comes with the neck down on the Thermal cat-back already cut off and has a 3" section welded on for a full 3" system! It's a bit pricey but well worth it. The gains are simply incredible and the sound is awesome. :D

Yes, you can install the 3" exhaust, then buy the rest later. The Thermal necks down to 2.5 to bolt-on to a stock car.

EDIT: The Thermal necks to 2.25 to bolt to stock cat. I have a 2.5 test pipe and the thermal neck down is smaller.

I went with HRC and ordered the full package they gave me a 3" 02 eliminator dp, a modified 3" cat converter to fit with the 3" thermal R&D with a 4" tip

so will any downpipe fit up to the 3" Thermal ?? any brands better then the next? or should i just go for a cheap one?

I was never a fan of finding cheap stuff to slap on my daily driver... I prefer quality even if I have to wait a couple of months to save up. From experience I have been with HRC for two years now and their parts are made for our DSM's You can also check out SBR and RRE if you fancy because some people say HRC is somewhat costly.
