Downpipes

Just had a quick question:

I was looking at after market downpipes for my 1g fwd and noticed that they have maybe only a 45 or maybe 50 degree bend. What I'm getting to is...is it really that much more beneficial to get lets say a 2.5 mandrel bent downpipe opposed to a 2.5 press bent downpipe. I ask this because there is a substantial price difference.

The mandrel bent pipe is going to give you a more uniform bend (same diameter throughout the bend) as where a press bent pipe is just the opposite. You will have a section that's a true 2.5" until the bend then it gets smaller causing a restriction in flow. Alot of people use pressbent pipe without problems, it just depends on what you want.

If you have the money but the mandrel bent pipe. It will flow more than the other pipe and that is why you are getting after market exhaust in the first place. You dotn have to get it but why buy something that will neck down to the original size. Plus if you do it right the first time then there is no second time.

Mandrel bent all the way. Press bent pipes can cause quite the restriction. I would rather have a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust than a press bent 3" exhaust.
