i hve to replace the drivers side door handle on my 99gst. its turning out to be such a in in the ass so far that metal tab on the door that secures the handle gets in the way when trying to reinstall the handle and i dont know how to get to the linkages with the widow in the way. am i supposed to take the window out before doing this? that seems like the only way. and oh yeah my cylinder broke so im going to need to get a new one. does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to get this window out?

never saw a tutorial check youtube, i just taught myself i just started taking things apart slowly, and taking pictures helps and using the other side.

+1^^^.... i also put a bolt in between the rod the connects the look to door handle so u dont have to pull too much to break it to avoid the handle breaking which dsm door handles are known for

I'm replacing the passenger side on my 95. Yup it's a trick and very tight in there. The way I am seeing it is to pull or at least loosen the window. Take out the center and rear nuts for the window and then loosen the front one. Pivot the window on the front nut and that should give you just enough room to get into the door handle and cylender etc. Big problem I had too was connecting the opener rod arm. I found it best to install the handle first and then with the window out of the way to install the rod and cylender. Then bring the window back into position. It is a silly design, they used such brittle plastic and the big problem too with these is the return spring. It's too stiff for the plastic. Might just be better off climbing through the hatch when your done installing. I know I don't want to replace mine again.
