2G 2GNT interior door handle replacement question

Ok. Just bought a 99 GS and the driver's side interior handle is broken, specifically the spring. Anyway, got a new one and is ready to replace. I saw the video and many pics on removing the door panel which will expose the handle with two rods attached to it. First, will I still need to remove the plastic cover with the gooey stuff? How do I remove those rods? Will they be difficult to put back?

There is just a little plastic clip that holds the rod in a hole. It is extremely simple.

yea, first time i had my door off i had the system figured out in 30 seconds. very simple process.
