The duct in front of the intercooler tunnels air to cool your intercooler. Depending on how much you're boosting and your other bolt ons, it may not matter too much. Since you're still using a SMIC, you may want to put it back, but it's really up to you. Your car will still run the same, but at higher boosts, it may not be as efficient (intercooler).

If you're planning on going with a FMIC, you won't need it at all. But if you're gonna upgrade to a Supra SMIC, I would keep it.

I just cut the lining behind the side mount intercooler and put a screen (like from a window) so crap doesnt get thrown in.
I read this some where that it was a good, because it helps cool or some thing?
 
Yea, cutting some of the wheel well is smart, nice cool air...
You should look into upgrading to Supra SMIC or FMIC if you plan on running a decent amount of boost.
