Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.

You brought a chain letter to the forums... WTF

Gas in not $90 a barrel. Not even close. Here in Chicago, we're always more than most. Aside from Cali. Currently, 87 octane is $1.89. As long we can keep our use below our surplus, they should stay low.

I agree that $1.89/gal is muuuuuuch better than it was 2 months ago, but the truth of the matter is that a barrel of gas is cheaper now than it was when gas was $1 a gallon. If people would boycott certain gas stations (particularly those in the middle east) they will be forced to drop prices to what they should be.

gas hit 1.68 down in wichita falls, tx. im sure this one gas station dropped below that.

gas in oregon is down to $1.90 woot. arco has shitty gas chevron is where i get my gas now and im stickin to it :D those cheap ass gas stations get by by sellin cheap gas. the price of fuel is going to raise and drop all the time its called the economy cant change it

My friend is from Grants Pass Oregon also, and he says the same shit about the gas, must be a thing down there. There's regulations on the gas they sell, so how can it be shitty gas? I never seen an Arco station until I moved out to Washington and realized the only reason it's cheaper is they don't accept credit. That would mean less overhead and the ability to sell gas for less and depend more on instore sales which is where they make the majority or their profits anyways. I could be way off though this is just a crazy theory.

So what SHOULD BE the price of a gallon of gas? Who makes that call? The price of oil and gasoline aren't just chosen arbitrarily. There are more functions in the calculation for it than any of us can grasp. Today I filled up my truck for $1.69 a gallon, which is the price of gas in 2000, well before any wars, Dubyas, and price gouging. No one was complaining about the price of gas then. Then it rose to about $2/gallon and everyone was shouting boycott, and gas-out days, which never came to be, and wouldn't have worked if they had. Then a weird thing happened when gas got up to $4 a gallon. I saw gas stations full of people, paying four dollars per gallon, and I never heard anyone talk about price gouging, boycotts, etc. Now that gas is down to $1.70-ish, I hardly see anyone at gas stations.... and here you are saying that the price is still too high?

Oh... and if you don't pass that message along to ten other people, you'll have bad luck for seven years and never find true love.
