Does your EVO III turbo creep worse then mine?

How's your compression because I don't understand why your not creeping LOL
 
So what's the problem with these 34 mm flapper mods that everyone talks about at high boost levels? I want the flapper, but I've read they blow open under boost higher than 20 psi. Is that because they are too small genreally to run that much boost? Would the stock flapper be any better if you ported the wg opening? I think this is something everyone should know if they're considering the flapper mod to cure boost creep.

I read through that thread twice already. That's another one of my concerns. I'm still confused about what to do as far as a flapper is concerned if I want to boost up and past 20 psi though. And after reading through that thread you posted, I have to ask "is the only cure to high boost problems on the E316G an external"???
 
I run it internally gated with a tubular 2.5" O2 and have no creep if I set it to anywhere from 17-22. No 34mm flapper and the WG passage is bearly touched, just smoothed out. It's wierd how some people have it bad and others don't at all. I did have bad creep when I was untuned. I was running pobably 15% too rich and after I spend some time with the car and tuned it, I don't have boost creep anymore. No other changes.
 
I have a 2.5" tubular O2 with external dump- do you think I'll be OK with the stock wg flapper- and maybe some mild porting- running higher levels of boost. I'm more concerned with the high boost than the low boost because I have most of the supporting mods to be able to support a good amount of boost.

I dont think that creep is really an issue when you run higher boost (>20psi). I would stay with the stock flapper if your going above that.

How so? I'm trying to run 18-20psi on my setup and now with the cold weather it boosts uncontrolable. More so maybe from my FUBAR boost controller. I would think and I would like more persice boost control at that level for fear of really f-ing up my motor from boost creep. I chance for AFR error at that high boost can cuase real problems.

With that much exhuast flow it just overwelms the WG, backing up the exhuast gas and over spins the turbine.

Cold weather makes it worse, but in normal weather >20psi should hold pretty good with an externally dumped O2 housing like the guy I originally replied said he has.
 
i'm not sure is this boostcreep or its normal, but i read a lot about this evoIII boost creep and i just got more confused.
My car has about 9psi to 5000rpms and then jumps to 14psi on higher rpms.
my friend has the same problem so i thought its ok
so guys what is it

It should be 10PSI so ur boost gauge might be off orelse many other things.

How the hell do you run 15% too rich?

I think I'm only about 2% rich so I guess if I tune more it's not gonna make a difference.

I guess I'll have to wait until it's warmer out to see just how bad it is.

Since I installed my 660s I haven't knocked yet but I also havn't took it past 6K too. (Don't wanna blow a head gasket)
 
I was on the stock side mount with 650s and the evo16G. In order to get rid of knock at 15psi, that's how much fuel I had to add. My timing was smooth at that range but power was nill. I didn't know this until I got a capable intercooler and could run a decent air:fuel.
