I just got my timing stuff in today. I was wondering if autozone or something local carries the tool to tighten my tensioner pulley. I'm doing my tbelt job tomorrow and I hope everything goes smooth.

I would highly recommend having the tool over a pair of 90* pliers. It does make the job so much easier. Be careful when using it that you don't have the pulley bolt too finger tight. If you feel like you're really pushing on the wrench to get the pulley to rotate, it's too tight. I've snapped 2 pins from the jayracing tool already. Luckily Jay has sent me 2 pins (no charge) and I can just use the new one to press out the old one.

Do like I did put it on a jack under a water hydrant and when you could see that the holes are leveled put an alan key since all they recommend is a vice any ways

I dont find the tool neccesary, If you set the exhaust cam back one tick you can get the timing perfectly set and the belt will be tight like it should when you finish. give it some tries without the tool. I have never used the tool before.

I take it these two suggestions are 'home made' remedies. Our job on this site is to give the correct technical information, so that others do not copy our ill practices. Have you guys ever checked the gap on the autotensioner or even guesstimated with a belt deflection? I mean, these practices do work, but it's tough to put information out there on the interwebz when you could possibly risk someone else's engine with your advice. OP, you have the right answers and the 'right' answers. I do hope you find which suits you best.

I still need to know what these modified 90* pliers are..I'm in a bind for time and I prefer this method. I'm doing the tbelt job in one hour.
