I already have the shocks but I need to springs and bushings. I would like to do a 2inch drop but I hear a lot of people fighting about Eibach Pro-Kits and H&R Sport Springs but I rather go with a two inch drop so would the Eibach Sportline Springs be best or which other springs? APC Lowering Springs? I really don't want to get too $$

get megan racing springs they are like 80 dollars shipped, my firend has them on his sentra with stock shocks and it rides really nice, lowers it alot to, prob as much as sportline maybe even more.

Then you're SOL if you lower the car 2" and run KYBs. Bumpstops were never meant to provide a comfortable ride.

well how bad will it be this is the info I am looking for

Well I just got my talon last week and the previous owner was running kyb adjustable shocks and stock springs well of course I want to change springs and I keep reading things about these shocks that doesn't seem to be that great but they are pretty new and I don't want to buy new ones so what springs would be the best? If I drop the car more than an inch I understand I need cambers thats fine I guess but what springs would make for a 2inch drop a comfortable riding one? I am really confused I keep hearing so many different things or am I basically stuck just buying an Eibach Pro-Kit? The pro kit sounds good but I was hoping for a lower ride?

Suspension travel is at a premium with stock body length shocks at normal ride height. That means you can't go too low while still keeping off of the bumpstops. AGXs have had problems in the past with having a longer body than stock which can make the problem worse. They are rumored to have fixed this problem but I haven't seen any of the new ones.

Without a shorter body shock or something like the GC upper hats to give you more suspension travel I wouldn't go too low (2"+ drop) and expect to have a great ride quality.

it's a different part number now and the shock body is now the same length as stock

for springs? well, Eibach sportlines drop about 1.7" and so do H&R Race Springs I think. dropping the car more than 1.5" on the AGX's will void the warranty (if you're even worried about that).

Coilovers also void AGX warranties...

I absolutely don't like the AGX front shocks.
The OP has a 2G -- on 2G's I absolutely don't like AGX rear shocks. They're garbage.
:thumbdown The boards are full of stories of people blowing up the rears in short periods of time. Mine too.

Well not the same car, but on my subaru there are KY agx's all way round with H&R 2" drop all way round and it looks good and is damn stiff and I love em and wouldn't go with anything other unless I was going to do rallyx cuz 2 " drop is to low for rally-x...

but the agx's have 30-40k miles on them and they are still stiff as hell, and are the BEST auto-x street shocks ive ever riden/driven in... I love em

Riding on bump stops, sucks! If you can save your money and go for at least the tien basic kit, or if you still want the shock/spring combo, Go with koni yellows/ and Eibach springs (prokit or sportline depending on your drop). Or the Tokiko illumina's ride nice to.

Like 1Gs, Subarus are struts all around. That's why a long-bodied shock isn't a problem, even when the car is lowered. These cars all start with a ton of travel and can afford to lose some. But the guy who started this thread has a 2G, which is SALA all around and has serious front travel issues. Even though the shocks in question are now the same length as stock (instead of longer), they still don't have enough travel for the drops being discussed unless you run 600# springs.

There's a reason why 1Gs and Subarus are homologated and popular as rally cars, while 2Gs are not.

I went with KYB AGX on the front of my 1G last fall with no other suspension changes yet. Definitely the worst riding car I ever owned, but then it does have 130,000 miles on it and the front suspension is stock except for the KYBs. It is a daily driver and mostly on interstate so it doesn't beat me up too bad. What else suspension related should be replaced on a car this old to get it "up to par" other than springs of course. I noticed there is a great deal of difference in opinion where springs are concerned too.

KYBs can they handel H&R race springs? I heard they are stiff but I have no idea

They have handle'd them fine for me. I have KYB AGXs with H&R Race Springs, the ride is a bit stiff and rough, but adjusting the shocks helps a bit.

Didnt want to start a new thread so here goes .. Ok i Went from Tokico hp's on H&R Race Springs to kyb agx's, i kept the H&R Race Springs now the front of the car went from no wheel gap at all were now it sits 1inch higher with the agx's.. Is it normal? I remember that my 1g laser was the same , higher in the front than in the rear. The tokicos weren't shot just wanted some adjustable shocks.

The Tokico Blue and the KYB AGX are both low-pressure twin-tubes, but even low pressure can make a difference. If the old shocks were blown (in a certain way) and the new ones are, well, new, then the car will sit higher.

But don't worry. Keep driving around in a 2G with a 2" drop on low-rate springs and I'm sure that you'll blow the new ones, too, and then the car will sink back down. :)

Yeah, they werent my 1st choice of adj shocks, but got the opportunity to get them damn cheap for all four and new so i got them. I installed the rears first and they sat like before then went on to the fronts and well theyre 1/2 inch higher than the rears and 1inch higher than with the HP's. And if they blow up in the front or anywere then time for new ones and better one's i guess..
