Do i really need gm 3bar with dsmlink v3?!

I plan on getting dsmlink v3, and blowthrough gm maf in the spring. I know that in the full version of dsmlink it supports auto MAF Compensation. Seeing how it has auto maf compensation, do I really need to get a gm 3bar? Auto MAF Compensation means that I do not have to do any manual a/f tuning besides setting the injector size and maf size correct? Currently I have a stock MDP sensor. I already have a wideband and boost gauge installed in the car.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. The 3 bar map sensors are for logging boost within the dsmlink. In other words, you don't really need it since you have a boost gauge but if you want to logg boost through dsmlink and be able to review it then you need a map sensor.

Right I understand that. But looking at the product comparison page prodcompare [ECMTuning - wiki] the full version shows Auto MAF compensation. It says, "Auto MAF compensation= An extremely useful tool for getting those fuel trims inline quick and easy. Automatically dials in MAF compensation for you." So I would assume you could run the ecu in closed loop for a bit and dsmlink would automatically make adjustments to the MAF without the need to adjust anything manually? Thus no need for gm 3bar?

The auto MAF compensation is an option in ecmlink v3 to allow easier tuning for the fuel trims. Like when you are cruising on the highway, driving through the city, or idling. It does not auto tune wide open throttle runs, that still needs to be done by hand.

With out the auto MAF compesation you would have to log a few values, record a cruise run, then do some math and finally apply those results on the MAF Compensation window. In V3 ecmlink you right click your recorded log and select MAFCompAdjust and it will do the math for you so all you need to do is apply the settings.

i forgot to mention, you do not need the gm 3bar sensor for the auto MAF compensation to work but it does come in handy when tunning WOT runs.
